Not in Colorado yet!
Yup thanks!

As much as I hate to do it, I'm going to have to. Must be some residual machine oil somewhere.

Yeah, I have just washed some of my attys with water and soap and it doesn't get rid of the machine oil taste. So when that happened to me, I soaked it in PGA and viola, no more funky taste. You don't need to soak it very long. Just a few minutes and maybe use an old tooth brush on it.

Ok I take that back. The funky flavor is still lingering.

Maybe I didn't wash it out well enough? Man I really don't want to rip it apart.

I had another rda a long time ago that seemed to be immune to dawn, toothbrush, everclear and the UC. Once I realized the oil was down inside the post holes I took off the screws and got soap/dawn in there with bristle tips. Took me two weeks to figure that out!

Just took it apart again and realized I didn't take out the allan screws in the posts first time around. Going to give it a good soak in some alcohol.

Thanks for the tips!

Boil it....Had an atty I bought from eBay before I found ECF that took a few times in boiling water to get the machine oil out of it.

So how does this work now? I just send all my money to Rob, and he keeps me supplied with vaping bliss?

Ayup... pretty much.

This is unreal.

I thought there was SOMETHING to this, but this is brilliant. Absolute genius.

Mr. O'Neil, I LOVE YOU MAN

Congrats and welcome to the tribe. :vapor:

The one that I had sent was blemished?:(

Dunno - did you order a blem? Even if you did, rest assured the blem, if you find it will likely be so insignificant that you won't give a damn and just revel on how you paid classies price for a brand new REO :)

I always buy blems but like Rob says, it's hard to blemish a non painted mod like the TRA I ordered :)

I saw nothing I'd consider a blem on any of the 7 them that I have bought except a very very small micro unfinished area or scratch on the clear anodized VVG.

I always buy blem unless you just can't get one in a color you want and avoid purchasing REOs from the classies unless you know the seller has a reputation for clean mods / good hygiene :)

I've washed the rm4 1 time with soap, 2 times with washing up liquid, each time washing very thouroughly with a toothbrush and whatnot, and i've put it for 1 hour in an ultrasonic cleaner with washing up fluid. Of course each time i rinsed it with care. It still reeks machine oil, i don't know what to do next... Worst part is it seems ok until you fire the coil for a few secs and the flavor comes back. Might be the insulator, hard to determine. Same taste as machine oil though.

I bought a clone last month which had the exact same problem (Quasar, i'll have to look up the manufacturer to see if it's the same one.) i've tried other things with it, to no avail. I simply gave up after the 5th time.

I know the drill, i've had a number of RDAs and some were hard to clean but those two, i'm at loss...
