Trying to stop smoking 10-15 cigs a day, finished the last of the packet last night figuring I had my vape I had just bought sitting there, 3-4 puffs later there was liquid pissing through an air hole and down the side of the device.

I'm using it to quit smoking, the things edging me closer to buying another packet because I know a cig wouldn't fall to pieces a couple of draws in
So far I've probably spent a weeks worth of cigarette money on a kit and some liquid, havent had any real use out of either

Electronic Cigarette Starter kit, Parrot Vape Kit Pen 80W, E Cigarette Starter Kit with Rechargeable 2600mah Box Mod Battery and OLED Screen with Mod

That's the name of the device I bought, it has two air holes at the bottom of the tank and one leaks every time the device is used

Also I'm from Scotland and no I havent tried a Juul at a quick glance it looks like a throwaway, use till it's done and throw in the bin rather than refill

An Excellent kit to start with and a much liked one on the Forum here is the Innokin Kroma-A with a Zenith tank:D
    It's a fantastic setup!

As for your leakage, did you close off the airflow when filling up?
And how many ohms is the coil your using at how many watts?:)

IMO, that is not a kit for someone switching to vaping from cigarettes. The battery part should be fine, however the tank has a very open air flow and the coil that comes with the unit is a low resistance, high wattage (50-55) type.

A better tank to top that battery unit might be the Innokin Zlide or similar MTL tank.
It is a restricted draw tank, similar to a cigarette and the coils are available from multiple sources. (unlike the Parrot coils; only available on Amazon)

The Juul takes disposable "pods" that are easy to use and 99% leak free. It is closer to the draw of a cigarette and it is reliable and easy to use for beginners and those attempting to cut down or eliminate cigarettes.

As a new vaper, it is suggested to have at least two devices for the best results. If one stops working, you always have a back up.

Concerning the parrot tank: was the coil installed when it arrived? Did you confirm that the coil was seated firmly?
A poor seal is often the cause of leaking.

In future, I suggest NOT buy vape juice nor equipment from Amazon or Ebay.

    Cheers

Gear that doesn’t work right is the biggest obstacle to switching from smoking.

There are a few reasons tanks leak. I’m not familiar with yours, but this applies to most of them.

Stuff not screwed together tightly enough, or sometimes too tightly. Make sure the coil is in there good and tight, and tighten everything else down well, but not so hard it crushes the O rings that seal it.

Juice that’s too thin. Generally, the higher the ohms, the lower the vg. Tanks with really small coils with ohms at 1 or higher can usually handle 50/50 juice, but lower than that may need higher vg. Almost everything I use can take 25 pg/75vg.

I have a few mtl tanks that use 50/50, and a couple dl tanks that require max vg.

If the weather is hot, that’ll make the juice thinner, and more prone to leaking.

And as for Juul, I’ve never used one, but you would buy filled pods. Only the pods get pitched when they’re empty, but the device should last a while. It’s a simple way to start, but it’s not cheap in the long run. Some have very good luck with them.

Hi, I'm from Scotland too. When I switched to vaping after 50 years plus of smoking I found that the most important thing was to have some good well built reliable kit and a backup. These don't necessarily come cheap but the investment is well worth it.

Initial outlay may seem expensive - but compared to the UK price of cigarettes and tobacco the initial spend is quickly recouped and the health benefits outway the cost.

When you ask the question which is the best kit, people do come up with their favourites - my suggestions are based on long term useage/reliability, availabilty, ease of use and build quality.

If you want a small easy device - Innokin Coolfire Mini with either a Zenith or Zlide tank.

If you want more battery life then the Zenith Kroma kit would fit the bill nicely.

The more traditonal suggestion with a long track record of success and still available - a Nautilus Mini atop an iStick 30w.

Don't be frightened inially about using a higher nicotine liquid - 18 -18 strength would be where I would start - the objective after all is to get off of cigarettes.

Read up here on safety, always make sure you have spare coils for your tank and a back up for your main device. When setting up your mod don't be frightened to go below the coil manufacturer's recommendation if you are using higher nic juice. I run my Zeniths and Zlides at 8 watts with a 1.6 ohm coil and 16 strength juice, and often use my Nautilus Minis again with 1.6 ohm coils and the same juice at 6.8 watts getting extremely long life out of these coils as well as very satisfactory vape.

Good luck and I wish you all success.

Got a few questions to answer here, rather than reply to each I'll try do it in one
I didn't close the airflow no, I've looked through all the instructions had a look about online can't figure out how to, closest I came was a video of somebody saying you do it here then proceeding to piss about with no success

I don't know what ohm is, like I said I pretty much started and stopped vaping within about 20 mins

    The liquid is 70%PG/30%VG

I had a look at it, took it apart and made sure everything was tightened before using it or putting any liquid in it, the battery part was on charge while I did that with the tank

The watts can go between about 20 and 80, initially tried pretty high just about choked to death so it's been sitting around 40-50

    Hi and Welcome Aboard
Falconeer suggested some good stuff in the above post. I would add to those the Innokin Adept Starter kit, it is easy to use, comes with the Zlide Tank and is in my opinion the best kit out there for MTL. Another good kit is the Aspire Tigon this one is a stick but it also works great. A couple of others worth a mention are the Aegis Mini and the OBS Cube Mini.

Does your tank have a ring around the bottom of it that you can turn around? If so that is your what closes the airflow.
The ohms will be printed on the coil that's in your tank in a number and a funny symbol:p
70/30 is fine, that's what I've always used:)
As for your watts just start low and work your way up until you feel comfortable:D

i would recommend something that has a wide range of settings and uses for your first mod,
everyone vapes differently and you will likely make many changes as you progress from cigarettes to vaping .. having a wide range of settings means you can find the sweet spot for your current needs

so the hardware i would recommend would be a reasonable quality 2 x 18650 battery mod and a tank .. buying both in a kit means they will work together

for the juice start with 12-18mg in tobacco flavours
its not to big a change ( more like changing brands ) and will give you a good throat hit that most smokers need

personally i started with a smok x-priv then brought a smok g-priv lux and a geekvape aegis legend for backups

after 2 years all are still working well ( most here hate anything smok so its going to get a few moans ) .. the aegis legend is a fav here so most would agree with that ( its shockproof and lightly waterproof )

it took me only a few months to go from tobacco to trying all sorts of flavours

at $25 and rising 10% a year for a packet of the cheapest 20's here the cost was quickly recovered
and .... its good to breath properly again

i buy good quality juice from reputable chinese manufacturers, it is in a lot of cases the same stuff you buy locally at considerably less than the cost they charge to relabel it

look at it as changing the way you smoke rather than giving up smoking
mentally its less of a hurdle

it will be easier than you think .. so long as you think there will be some differences

It has a ring at the bottom yes, doesn't do anything or I havent got it to do anything beyond unscrew to let you fill the tank, ohm is 0.3

I also hear what I can only describe as being like a snapping or cracking noise initially loud one off but then what I'd assume sounds like the normal heating of the liquid afterwards, is this normal?

Lower your watts a little bit, about 10-15 watts and see how you go with the crackle.
    Did you prime the coil?
You may have Over primed it, put too many drops of juice in there before filling:)

Like I said I'm new to it and from my sole experience so far it's not been good, the two you mentioned cheapest I can see here is almost £60 which if it had to go the same route as the one I already bought would have me down by over £100 and still buying and smoking cigarettes

I'd suggest enquire about the Kroma-A you don't need to get something with external batteries. Then you'll need a charger.

That tank does NOT have an adjustable air flow. (sad face emoji ) The .3Ω coil should perform well at 45-55 watts and a strong, sharp inhale (very unlike a cigarette, more like a hookah) is needed.
    The snap/crackle/pop is "normal".

Doesn't crackle but doesn't give off any smoke to inhale either

This is just a bunch of over complicated bull.... at this point, its near impossible to open the tank in the first place when it does eventually open the bottom part which includes the coil is now stuck to the device impossible to move, what one actually comes unstuck on each given attempt is anybody's guess
I don't know what prime means in the first place but if it was possible to over prime then why do they not just do it themselves and
