What is my charger doing?

Does anyone know why, when I screw my eGo battery into the charger, the light on the charger quickly blinks from red to green every 5 seconds?

It does this both when I've got it plugged into the wall outlet and when I try to charge it on my laptop.

Edit: I just tried the battery in my other eGo charger, and it's doing the same thing.

I also tried charging a couple different eGo batteries, and it's happening with ALL of them!

Am I losing my mind? Now I don't know if this is normal and I just never noticed it before?

Mine do that too really quick blink of green every few seconds. It only does it with my eGo batteries. I charge my Riva batteries in the same charger and its steady red then turns green when done with those. Everything seems to charge fine though.

Okay, that makes me feel better. I can kind of see how I've missed it all this time, because the blink from red to green and back to red is SO QUICK.

Yep, and my battery appears to be fully charged now, like normal...

Try switching back and forth from directly plugging into the wall plug they give you and then directly into a USB. Also many have gotten chargers like this from my understanding but see if there charging your batts anyway I have a bunch of these chargers and lots of the work a bit different as far as the lights changing back and forth but still charge the batt, I think maybe it could be something in the PCB. Also check with who you purchased them from they might return them for new ones since the manufacturer reimburse them for faulty equipment lots of times

Thanks MWA... I got them here at Liberty Flights. Well, as long as they're charging, then i really don't mind or see it as a problem. :)

Mine (all LF) do that too, both USB and wall. Just kinda saw it as it saying "just checking" ;o)

Now, on occasion, I'll plug one in and it'll go right to green. I know its one I've used a lot that day... I take it out of the wall and plug into one of my usb (got a nice 7 port powered hub LoL), sometimes that does it... other times, I switch which cable I have it on and then it seems to charge fine. Just weird/finicky. I'm figuring it must be one of the batteries doesn't like one of the cables, and I eventually get them together every so often (no way I'm tracking it - out of 8 batteries now).

I had basically the same problem except my wouldn't turn red, so I emailed Liberty and they said try pulling up the center pin/ contact because it probably wasn't making good contact with the Reva battery. So I did pull it up, with some effort and then it start to work. Hope this helps, give it a try.

I think someone else had started a thread on this same issue a ways back, I believe Abe from LF was replacing some peoples chargers because of this issue but I'm not positive, you may want to PM him, something tells me he has your answer and he will help you out one way or another I'm sure, he's a super nice guy

Kinda the opposite issue... I remember that thread while awaiting my first order to arrive and fearing the worst. Obviously, they musta checked mine first because it woulda been from that same batch. But the fact that all 3 kits I've got behave the same way, as well as the one extra cable I'd purchased, I tend to think its like Mikey said - normal behavior.

They are red while charging, fast blink of green every 5-10 seconds, and they do turn green when 'done'. Possibly meaning they are in that final charging stage (topping off) makes sense. My cordless drill charging unit has 3 lights, red, orange and green - and each mean different stages of charging.

Considering its been a month now, since receiving my first kit, I'm definitely not worried. I know they've drained and fully charged over and over and over, no problems.

Now, problem I have is spending so much time here - I have to be careful where I set down an eGo - for fear the DUST BUNNIES will try eating them up! (True story - in den earlier today - knew I'd not been out there in too long, when I picked up my eGo after it rolled across a surface, and the black was... no longer black...) Maybe someday after the break even point (roflmao), can use that savings then to hire a MAID! LoL Or... could just peel myself away from here once in a while, and grab my Swiffer....

My charger is weird as well. when I plug it into the wall it works like it is supposed to. but if I plug it into a usb port (tried several and on several computers ) it just stays green wont charge, this is not good if I am going to be out with my laptop, I bought 3 rivas in the last week or so for other people and they all do the same thing. what to do what to do...

I do have an ego charger that works properly either way, course that dont help the people that I gave Rivas to.

I've had the exact same problem. Had it replaced twice? Three times? Light stayed green in the usb port, no charge, at all. Wall adapter worked fine: light was red as it was charging, green when charged. I do have one working charger, but it's a Desan (?) from a different company, that will charge from the usb port. The others I charge with the wall adapter, because that's the only way it will charge. So I guess maybe tell the people you give the Rivas to, if the charger doesn't work on the usb port, try it with the wall adapter.

I'm half asleep and on pain meds, so I think I'm just repeating myself in this post...

I would say that the USB port isn't knocking out enough power to charge; the light comes on (easy) battery won't charge due to the power requires. That's my thinking.

I'm on a pretty powerful laptop, though (Macbook Pro). I charge my iphone off this thing and it's fast! The Desan charges my Riva batts from the usb port very quickly, no problem, it's just the Riva/ego chargers that don't. Unless they're on the wall adapter.

I'm on narcotic pain meds, again, so... am I making sense?
