You're saying that the voltages listed on that switch are the nominal voltages, not the charging voltages?

I'm confused because you said the two choices were 3.7V and 4.2V earlier. That 4.2V selection is definitely not a nominal voltage, it's a charging voltage.

No, I was confused. Got out the instructions, the 4.2 is a charging voltage.
Says it's compatible with a nominal 3.7v and 3.8v Li-ion
Charging outputs 4.35v, 4.2v, 3.7v, 1.48v
Not sure the OP even has a Nitecore i2 ?

Yes, I should have said use the 3.7v setting, not the 3.8v setting.
The i2 should auto detect the 18650 as a 3.7v, but be can manually set to 3.8, which would overcharge past 4.2 and damage the battery.

Are you sure those aren't 3.7 and 3.2? 3.2 would be for LiFePo batteries.

New battery seems to have remedied the situation. It was a samsung 25R that did the trick.

Now I just need to figure out a way to stop getting these dry hits!
