What is the best build you have used over 1 ohm?

Hi everyone!

I am a fairly experienced vaper. I rebuild on several devices kayfun, TOBH, Patriot, Etc. The mods I am using are a Zen Mechanical and a ZNA as well as a 26650 Panzer. After talking with some experienced vapers I am going to try to steer away from sub ohming on my drippers, but I want to still get big flavorful clouds on a higher ohm build to reduce the heat in my vape. What build and what type of coils have you used that would work to achieve my goals. I am using 32ga or 28ga kanthal with 8-12 wraps. Getting decent vapor and flavor, but I want more! I have experimented with parallel and braided coils, but I am not yet a pro. What do your pros recommend?

You did not mention what the Inside Diameter of your coils were. I get good builds with dual coils with an I.D. of 2.5mm 28ga 9 to 9/8 wraps now that will be a total ohm below 1 ohm of .8 ohms. But the ohms per coil will be 1.6 ohm. At 4.2 volts that will be 22 watts total 11 watts per coil. I use cotton, cellucotton or cotton bacon. On RDAs I put just enough wick to slip though the hole in the wick that i get a slight resistance. I take and tuck the wick ends under the coils. I don't get a big cloud but it's not bad and i still get good flavor. Also it will hold up a pretty good vape until the batt reaches 3.3-3.5 volts. On a kayfun type i put enough wick in the trays to fill except for the juice holes and i do NOT pack it in. Lose is best for cotton type wicks.

I know you said you were trying to steer away from sub-ohming because of the heat, but an easy way to keep the performance while reducing heat is airflow.

My favorite all-around, daily build is a simple dual 28 gauge micro coil. I wrap my coils with a 1.5 mm diameter and use 5-6 wraps. This build comes out to around .6 ohms and its a great performer. I have 2, 3 mm airholes in my RDA and the vapor is so cool I can barely tell I'm inhaling any.

I use a same build like bm, 0.6 ohms dual coil. 5/6 wraps 28 in my patriot with holes drilled out. I don't like hot vapes and this is a nice setup. My second best was dual at 0.8 with 6/7 wraps same diameter coil.
