What IS the difference?

Planning to go VV -

So, I can TELL that I probably want to vape at slightly higher voltage occasionally - but that's my only motivating factor in moving beyond EGO batteries. Let's assume the following:
- I'm going to keep just using clearos (EVOD, T3, etc).
- I'm going to keep using juices I've found that are mostly just fine at 3.7, but I can see wanting to bump it up a little for some, etc....

So if all I need is a little VV, can you explain the difference between the several levels I might go to next - let's compare, say:

a) Twist/Spinner
b) Vamo/ZMax
c) Provari

I completely understand aesthetic differences, and the difference in durability - but I'm asking about function: Is the VAPOR and FLAVOR going to differ here? And if so - WHY and HOW?

I saw a post today - someone who said "my brand new Vamo, set at the same voltage as I use my spinner, is giving me way more vapor". How's that work?!
:oops::?:
Thanks!

Well I use VV because of different reasons. Main one is being able to change the Voltage to suit different resistance. Currently I am using a Kanger Pro tank and when it get low I need to turn up the Volts and when full I must turn it down a bit. 3-6 volts with my vamo is good enough though I also have a box mod that goes up to 8v for some of those thick liquids.

a) Twist/Spinner
Very good at what it does, but does get weaker as the battery gets closer to needing a charge and its disposable great first try.

eeeehhh kinda the twist set at 4 v may be 4 or 3.8 or dip a little the longer you hold the button. something like a vamo has more push to keep the voltage steady.
b) Vamo/ZMax
very good at what they do for their price points, sturdy and replaceable batteries, much better at holding voltage over the long run with many features and settings. but no warranty if it breaks its done, but worth 50 bucks i think.

c) Provari
regulated voltage that is exact - 4v = exactly 4v for the life of the battery
built like a tank and has the best warranty in the business right now, expensive but repairable. and almost never prone to failure.

all in all the idea is you dont have to worry about the right resistance on your clearo, you can turn up or down the voltage to find the sweet spot for what ever you want to use.

Thrasher gave a pretty good rundown.

In your situation the Spinner/Twist might be just the thing, you ego charger will work on them and you can move up to bigger devices later.

The Spinner does a slightly easier to read dial, and the 1300 mah is shorter and fatter, other than that they are just about the same.

I doubt you would notice any difference between something like the Vamo or Zmax and a good VV ego, especially since you stated you only want a small boost here and there.

For your stage of vaping, a Spinner or Twist should be a better fit for you. You don't sound like you will need the extra boost that a bigger replaceable battery can provide. Also, the eGo class batteries are perfect for the smaller juice delivery devices like a clearomizer which you now prefer to use.

The reason I went to a more advanced PV was I wanted replaceable batteries. No longer would I need to carry multiple eGo sized batteries to last me all day and night. Far easier to carry a spare battery in my pocket (safely tucked in a plastic case) and just one battery device.

An advanced PV will also allow more options in juice delivery devices, at least aesthetically speaking. Larger capacity clearotanks and cartotanks can be used for all day vaping without looking top heavy on a slim battery.

And finally, most advanced PVs are made of heavier construction materials able to withstand some abuse and time. Concerning battery life, an eGo can be expected to last several months, while replaceable batteries should last over a year and are far cheaper to replace.

I just got a sigelei zmax v3 yesterday after using joyetech egos and a smok winder and I have to say that I'm shocked about how much better this sigelei performs. Its just so much more consistent. I use it it VW mode and it makes it sooo simple to use all my different clearos with different resistances. I ordered from varitibe and got a 90 day warranty as well. Very pleased.

Varitube has them for about $85 for a kit including batts, a charger, a chase, and a cheapo clearo. Use "varitube10" code to get 10% off.

Thanks!

This has to do with the current handling of the device and the abilities of the regulation module. With an ego you can push the envelope pretty quickly due to its relatively low current handling. Most ego based VVs handle ~2.5A of output, but in practice can peter out before that. Let's say you have a 1.5 ohm dual coil tank, and you want to put 10w of power through it. That's just under 3.9v, which gives you 2.58 amps. An ego will not be able to do that. You can turn it up to 3.9v but it won't fire at 3.9v (this is something a lot of people miss about their PVs). A Zmax or Vamo can handle 4-5A, so that's no sweat for those devices, and you will see much more solid power delivery at 10w, a true 3.9v output.

Note: Keep in mind that many of the Vamo-class devices do not play well with Kanger ego-style devices. You will need some kind of adaptor to use them with those devices. To avoid needing one you'd look at something like a Protank.
