4 weeks in..
Started with disposable cig-a-like’s at 10$ a pop– Thought they were OK – Kept going back to smoking.
Got an eGo and a few ce4s – Thought they were GREAT, Why would I every want to mess with a tank that I had to replace coils on when I could just buy ce4s? Bought a VV battery – wow – That’s way better!
Bought a Protank2 and an EVOD tank – Wow – This is awesome! –
Found some juice I really like a lot – OMG, This is all I’ll ever need (current stage)
I’m not rebuilding anything at this point and currently have no intention to do so but I can clearly see that vaporizing is a progressive disease and I can see myself getting sucked in – and if the feds do something drastic as I believe they might, I’ll do whatever it takes do stay off burning tobacco.

I like the fact that I can tune a coil setup in my device to my liking, not what the manufacturer hopes I will like. 1000' of kanthal and a skein of Peaches and Cream yarn and I'm set for life. Takes less than 5 min, and costs pennies. I vape unflavored so the yarn last 2 to 3 weeks and I change out the coil every 3 to 4 months. I vape 6ml to 7ml daily.

NC I have heard of zero nic juice but unflavored is new to me????? what does unflavored juice taste like?

Actually I use "unflavored" quite often. IMO unflavored best duplicates smoking. Think about it, there is only one substance that vaping & smoking have in common, and that's nicotine. When I mix a batch of unflavord I don't worry as much about the nicotine content as I do the taste. It usualy will work out to about 10mg/ml. (1%)

would silica wick possibly last you guys longer than your organic cotton? its what I use and seems to be what the manufactures actually use to. I have not tried cotton but if in a pinch I may have to but I have 50 ft of silica for 16 bucks and considering you use less than an inch in a rebuild your still saving tons along w/ the kenthal for under 5 bucks from the manufacture on ebay for 100 ft

The good thing about silica is that you can dry burn it to remove gunk. Cotton, you just swap out. For me, I use cotton for a few reasons.

One, it's cheap. $3 for a bag of cotton balls or a skein of cotton yarn is enough to keep most people vaping into the next century. Two, it's easier to fine-tune the density of the wick (at least for me). Last, but not least, I feel that cotton wicks better than silica, which I think gives me a better flavor than silica.

Some prefer silica, some cotton, some hemp. It's all a matter of personal preference.

    If you're going to rebuild a coil, you can put silica wick, but if the coil is good and you just want a fresh wick, it's easier to rewick with cotton than to try to put silica through a tiny commercial coil;

Cotton also wicks better, and the fluffyness seems to block leaks better than the compressed clothlike nature of silica wick.

Well, for one, once competent at building, there is nothing in the world of vape that can compare to the Vape delivered from well built and well wicked rba. It is just impossible to fathom the vape different rba's can deliver, till experienced.

Sure, there is a learning curve, and in the beginning seems like all one does is build. Not because we have to, but always looking for improvement. Have one rba that had the same coil build and wick in service for two months. Still vaped quite well, far better than a Nautilus could hope to perform, but coil was gunked over, and could not figure how it could possibly vape. Yanked the wick, dry burned and cleaned the coils, still looked great and ohms hadn't drifted much, re-wicked with ramie fiber, and omv, fraking awesome vape once again.

Once you get to this point, all I have to do, on a daily basis is fill me tank and vape. A coil will last months, the wick, depending on fiber or type wick used, can last several weeks, sometimes more, some less.

Upon receipt of a new rba, it usually takes me the first build just to get to know her, and try to understand how to best build. I use a simple horizontal micro coil, to get a base read. After vaping first build for a day or so, will form a theory on how to get the best and most satisfying vape out of her. So when a firm build gels in my mind, will rebuild and test out my ideas.

Usually for me now, the second build is almost perfectly optimized for my style of vape and able to handle the maximum potential of my gear, sometimes may have to adjust the ohms of the coil a tad, to fine tune everything, but it usually good enough to wait a month or till I need to re-wick.

At this point in my vape journey, rba's offer the most trouble free, low maintenance, consistent Excellent Vape then anything out there. I use rba tank systems, and do tend to push everything to the max, but with due diligence, care, and maintenance. Because of the amount of research, studying, and understanding of all things vape, firmly believe my vape is much safer than the average jo vapers. Mainly due to the knowledge found here.

True, I didn't hesitate to spend two bills on the rose2 rba, but she's that good. I haven't spent over $3k on smokes this last year of vaping, why wouldn't I want to use a large portion of that money to invest in my health, joy, and awesome vape. ??

It's all about choices, I choose to rock vape. lmao

    Vape long and Prosper!!!

I'm only on page 2, but here are my reasons.

I first decided to learn how to build my own because I wanted to have an option if vape gear, at some time in the future, becomes hard to obtain. I started rebuilding protank coils and found that to be easy and fun. I got a gennie, but didn't care for that. By that time the buzz was all about Kayfun tanks. They sounded perfect for me, a bottom coil rebuildable, sign me up. I got one and couldn't be happier.

I don't rebuild as a hobby, and I don't chase clouds. I just build a coil when I need one, and it's usually a relatively boring 8 wrap, 28 gauge compressed coil at around 1.2 ohms.

The coils last a long time with dry burning and rewicking with cotton. I have a couple of kayfuns, so I can always have a coil built on a base and ready to go, so that makes replacing a coil practically as easy as swapping a head if I don't have time to tinker.

The taste is great, and I can have a fresh coil for pennies. I mean, 100 feet of kanthal is less than $8 and a coil takes maybe 4" (that's leaving generous tails for attaching the coil). So that's, like 2¢ a coil. Cotton is so cheap that it hardly even figures into the equation.

Unflavored does have a taste...we'll call it um...."Unflavored". Its a very smooth, slightly sweet taste. I started growing tired of any and all flavors after only a short period of time and could not go back to them even after a break. I decided to give unflavored a try and so far I am very satisfied. I vape it at 70pg/30vg, 1.8%, 1.6ohm coil at 3.7 volts. Very pleased thus far. It gets the job done. Every now and then I will get a toot or two of the wife's Spearmint, then it's back to the unflavored.
