The Sophia is a rebuildable version similar to a cartomizer that fits into a cartotank. It however lacks the filler material that a cartomizer has. It was designed for the Carto crowd that wanted something that would last longer in a tank and yet give them the freedom to control, somewhat, the resistance of what they put in their tank and also give them a cleaner taste to their vape... The Killer 705, which is also made by Leo was the precurser to the Sophia...

There are cut-outs in the threaded part of the base. When you unscrew the main tube (opening the flow control), these cutouts are exposed and juice flows into them, up to the wick. The more you unscrew it, the greater the juice flow. One complete turn from fully closed works well for most folks.

The red silicone o-ring is less "sticky" on the main tube, allowing it to rotate within the top end cap. You want the lower o-ring to be tight and stick on the base so it doesn't turn when you're turning the main tube. That's why you keep the original o-ring in the end cap that goes on the base.

ahhhhhhh! NOWW I get it... as you unscrew upwards, the cutout part gets exposed, and that's where the wick would be too; NOW I understand the liquid flow, THANKS.

And that is ingenious.

And the red silicone o-ring; so it seems the reason for it is to allow for the same liquid flow control; I was wondering why the sophia would need some special o ring; because the o rings would already be with the tank. So that special o ring is designed to just fit the sophia while allowing the sophia top to rotate.

You got it. And it is ingenious. It's 45 mm long. If you're using it in a 35 mm tank, 10 mm of it protrudes to let you turn the tube and all you need is a bare minimum drip tip such as the STR5 to finish off the top.

If you use it in a 45 mm tank, you'll need a straight, tubular drip tip of at least 10 mm length, to be able to slide the tank up and remove the base while having both ends of the tank still sealed. I got a STR15 (15 mm) drip tip for that. The ByLeo drip tips use two o-rings to provide a good grip in the main tube. You'll want that because you're turning the main tube for juice control by turning the drip tip if it's in a 45 mm carto tank.

I used the Sophia the first day I had it just as a dripping atomizer... with the juice flow control closed and not in a tank. It worked very well for dripping--as close to a disposable bridge-free dripping atomizer as I've found. I popped the inner o-ring out of one end cap of my 19 x 45 mm IBTanked carto tank, installed the Sophia o-ring and then slipped it over the Sophia. I can still use my IBTanked drip tip/filler tool for filling the tank. Just don't forget to close the juice flow control before slipping the tank up above it or you may get some juice dripping out from the wick. I use the Sophia on a mech, so I just close the juice flow control whenever I lock the fire button, which is when pocketing it or at night.

I love it so much I ordered a second one the day after I got the first. The 10% off sale is still on until January 7th with discount code XMAS1314 and shipping is free if you order 100€ or more.

Thanks;

So driptip/mouthpiece: I think it means what I would want is STR15 tips ?

Ok so that looks like a 'Leo" specific drip tip or something;
_mg_4321.jpg

Looks like 'STR15' isn't any kind of universal standard but more a Leo, model number.

I don't like the looks of that;

I don't have a cartotank but I am guessing with regular cartos and regular carto tanks, the user will usually be able to put on a mouthpiece on a carto and I just want to figure out if somebody buys a sophia whether they are going to be like .... doh! how does this thing work, and are they going to have to get something else to make it work.

===edit===

actually I think some of the carto tanks come with a tip that screws on the top of the tank...

First, since you've never used a carto in a carto tank, I'll offer this. While it is certainly possible to fill a carto-equipped carto tank without a tank tool, such a tool as the IBTanked drip tip/tank tool or Slap Yo Mama tank tool, makes it easier. Most carto tank users probably use a tool and they can be used in the Sophia.

I have successfully used one of my tightly fitting, single o-ring drip tips to turn the juice flow control in the Sophia. Because that particular drip tip's diameter is smaller than a carto diameter, I can push that drip tip down into the tank and remove the Sophia base to work on the wick, etc. HOWEVER, because this drip tip doesn't seal at the top end cap, it is imperative I find a way to keep the tank vertical and not falling over, else liquid would pour out. A tank tool can push the Sophia down (as when filling), but the tank must remain vertical in that condition. With a straight drip tip of at least 10 mm length, such as By Leo's STR10, STR15, or STR20, or others like it, both ends of the tank are sealed and the tank can be laying on its side while the base is removed.

Another option is the ByLeo "Nail" drip tip. Pushed in some, it leaves a gap for filling the tank like a tank tool. Pushed further in, there's enough of a straight section to seal the tank while the base is out of the bottom.

I hope this helps.

EDIT TO EMPHASIZE: This is only an issue with a 45 mm carto tank. With the 45 mm Sophia in a 35 mm tank, a straight drip tip is not needed to seal the tank.

EDIT TO RESPOND TO YOUR EDIT: I don't know of any carto tanks that come with a screw on mouthpiece. A carto tank slips over a punched or slotted carto. A carto uses a slip in 510 drip tip.
