What is your 18650 battery of choice and Why?

Apples to oranges, comparitively speaking. Both are different units of power used for different purposes.

We don't use the same calculations for measuring how much current (amps) will be used from a battery in a regulated mod vs a mechanical mod.

Mech mod - calculate the amp draw from the atomizer coil's resistance.

Regulated mod - calculate the amp draw from the amp limit of the processor.​

Someone correct me if I am wrong...

    I'm drawing 40A continuous (actually, 42A) and pulsing far beyond that, with an HB6. But not when vaping. It's for another application. Others are using HB6's in mech's and unregulated boxes at crazy high current levels with coils down to 0.02 ohms.

    Yes, but my guess is Mooch is using them in a higher wattage regulated mod, and not a mech. The processor's amp limit determines the amp requirement in this application, not the atomizer resistance

    Not vaping with the HB6's at 40A, though others are doing so...and beyond. I'm using them at 40A+ for a test of a client's prototype (not vaping related).

    Yes, it's rated at 30A. But you can use them at up to 40A continuous without damaging them and even higher when vaping (since we're pulsing the current).

    IMHO, the HB6 are the ideal competitive cloud chasing battery. Only 1500 mah, though, so not an everyday battery.

    I've got a dozen Sony VTC4's. At the moment i'm using my IPV4, so two at a time. I'm using a Youde Zephyrus with four 25g six wrap 2.5mm id horizontal coils in it with a combined ohm'age of 0.18 and vaping at 40 watts, which i know isn't that high really. I'm not sure what the amp draw is but i am quite confident the VTC4's can handle it with plenty to spare.

    Could be counterfeits. Also, if you are pushing them hard with high amp loads, realize that they are not 30 amp CDR, but 20 amps

    They came from illumination supply and I don't really push any builds that hard. I've had quite a few people tell me the sammies last longer too. Just doesn't make sense, though I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation.

    I'm new to removable batteries. What's the difference with the flat top batteries compared to others?
    Most Box Mod Battery Compartments are sized to fit Flat Tops, they also fit better in most Mechs, as they are shorter without the Button. Performance wise, there is no difference. Button Tops are fine for a lot of older Tube APV Mods (Telescopics etc).

    So, in general, I only buy Flat Tops because they will fit in everything iv ever used, Button Tops do not... (Unless the Manufacturer says to use a Button Top in a certain mod)

    I vape using a Kanthal 1.4 ohm single coil. I feed it 11.5 watts of power using a VW regulated mod.

    Using 'ohms law', this equals only 2.87 amps, so any 18650 battery they sell has more than enough power for my needs.

    Presently, I am using the Efest IMR 18650 (red) batteries rated at 2000 mAh capacity.

    I believe this battery is 15 amp (continuous) ... 20 amp (max discharge)
