Kinda surprised nobody said pulp fiction yet
Not really a cult movie, neither is Clockwork Orange. Both of those made a considerable amount of money and were seen by millions right out of the gate.

I'll throw in:

Carnival of Souls
Phantasm
Eraser Head
Cannibal Holocaust

And anything with Rudy Ray Moore.

I toss in clockwork because it is used in college psychology classes to teach aversion therapy as it is the best example of it.

I love a bunch of the movies you all have as favorites. Gdaym8, my local indie theater (The Nuart, bless its soul) has played "Rocky Horror" every Friday at midnight forever, so I've had more than my fair share of tortillas to the face:laugh:. I adore pretty much anything and everything by David Lynch, Kubrick, John Waters, Richard Linklater (of "Slacker", "Dazed And Confused", etc.), and Terry Gilliam. I also really go for the stuff that comes out of the Dogme 95 school Dogme 95 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Lars Von Trier is something of a ....., but his movies are a blast to watch. "The Celebration" is a great, accessible film out of the movement. Many of Werner Herzog's odd documentaries Werner Herzog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia are great. His latest, "Cave Of Forgotten Dreams" is really worth seeking out. Keeping with cultish documentaries, Errol Morris is brilliant - Errol Morris - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. But my favorite cult doc is "Crumb" - so weirdly wonderful. Saturdays, the Nuart will often play old Antonioni and Fellini movies that have something of a cult status, and they are paradise, but maybe that's for some other foreign film thread? Then there's kiddie cult, "The Princess Bride", "Willy Wonka", which have earned their obsessive fans. If anyone's interested in B-movies, or just great docs, watch "Corman's World: Exploits of A Hollywood Rebel" pronto. Knowing of my interest, a friend sent me this a little while back - The 50 Greatest Cult Movies of All Time | Nerve.com, and I've really enjoyed a great many of them, some as great films, some for the fun of kitch and camp. The 50th, "Withnail and I", is hilarious, and I just watched it again. And the soundtrack from "The Harder They Come" is my favorite soundtrack of all time. Sure hope this wasn't overkill, gdaym8, since I think you weren't envisioning a laundry list; but it's 3:30 A.M., so you'll have to forgive me:facepalm:.
