Do you carry a bottle of juice with you and refill the cart?
Do you carry other carts with you that you have filled before you left the house?

Right now, I've been OK with carrying the small bottle and using the same juice throughout the day. I've been thinking about carrying prefilled carts to switch flavors though. Would they leak?
Just looking for options. Thanks!

right now i have six 2.4ohm XL carto's filled up -- and two in the chamber ( i carry two usb infernos at all times just incase battery or leak) (stupid tankomizer leaked so bad it got me all paranoid)

anyways --- i have six soaking right now cleaning them out -- and they are on rotation --- i fill them up 2-3times -- soak / clean them -- and then put them back into rotation --- i always try to keep 4 cartomizers filled at all times

i have yet to go through four XL carto's in one day -- and i am a chain vapor'er,, er,,, er :vapor:

(yes for those counting) thats total of 12 cartomizers that are open and in rotation as we speak) <-- and this dont count the regular sized carto's i use to test out flavor's i mixxed up got 7 of them out i need to rinse out --

dont mix butter rum, vanilla butternut, and chocholate mint <--- it almost smelled like a kitty litter box with a touch of mint :(

I use an eGo with carts, not cartos. I have an eGo carrying case that I put 4 6ml drip-tip bottles in, along with 4 carts, a spare battery and a spare atomizer. I refill the cart I'm using as needed. If I'm somewhere inconvenient, I'll just go to the bathroom and do it in the stall, but I rarely need to go that far. The whole process takes me about 15 mins. It's all mildly inconvenient, but not a huge deal.

Cartos would be more convenient, I hear, and I have some blanks on the way to try, so we'll see.

I use the eGo-T so I am not sure this relevant

But I just pop the end cap off of the tank and drip straight into the tank unit is it about 4/5ths full and then pop the cap back on. Have used the same tank for 5 or 6 re-fillings before I clean them in hot water.

I carry a small 10ml bottle of the juice I like, either that or take an extra tank with me, I have done it both ways.

Thanks all! Sounds like I need to buy some Cartos for my Ego... where do you buy yours?
Im also looking into buying some flavors for DIY so maybe I can kill 2 birds.

when i first bought my inferno, it came with the atty (2.5ohm) -- i have tried many carto's but the atty was the best vape

it wasnt until i purchased the tankomizers with fail and leaks that i tried researching cartos again.

if you play with carto's --- my best vape came from 2.4ohm -- and i can use them on my 510's aswell --- i have not tried the 2ohm ones yet -- this is for both the 510 and ego equivalents like my inferno

hope this helps -- cause the 3ohm ones i wasted money on just did not pack the punch :(

sophie - you might want to make a new thread asking about good cartomizers for Ego

The ones I use on 510 are nicely made but not a hot strong hit. Nice big drags though. Soft cap stuffing-type cartos so easy to add juice to.
510 Blank Cartomizers

And since you have an Ego you could also use these which should run hotter. If too hot on your lips, try a plastic or delrin 510 drip tip on them (also sold at same shop). Don't drip juice in the drip tip - it would aim for the center air channel of the carto. But they make a nice cool mouthpiece and easy to remove for filling.
510 LOW RESISTANCE BOGE SOFT CAP Blank Cartomizers

I know nHaler sells some big cartos that hold more liquid. And there are also reservoir types around that have no stuffing and need whatever kind of syringe they specify for filling.

This video is for filling KR8's cartos but includes a handy demonstration of straightening the air channel. I have gotten days extra use out of a carto by straightening the channel - if I can't see light through the carto and it's dragging hard, I straighten the channel.

The old V4L cartos (for KR8) used in the video seem to have harder to remove caps. Soft caps (which they have now, as do the 510 cartos I linked above) can be popped out easily by sticking an unbent small paperclip in the mouth hole just far enough to pop out the cap. I usually rotate the carto when filling, and I hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end to catch any leaks. When done I make sure the threaded end is clean and dry then tilt the open end down and puff into the threaded end to clear the air channel of any liquid that got in it. On the first fill, rotate the carto and let it sit a bit so the liquid can soak into all of the stuffing - otherwise you could singe the stuffing on the first drags and ruin it. During use, whenever the vapor seems a bit light or a bit dry, I tilt the ecig carto down for 5 seconds. if that doesn't fix the vapor I take it off the battery and add 5-8 drops, more if it wants it.

I carry two complete 900mah egos at all times, one filled with 18mg tobacco juice and the other with my all day 9mg Creme de menthe juice. I carry a 10 ml bottle of both flavors and top off on the fly. I stopped refilling and vaping in the bathroom a long time ago, lol. Now I can walk and top off a cart without even noticing it :)

Been working for me since 2009 :)

Good luck

Hey everyone, I'm new to vaping, so I'm not a pro or anything like that, but I have tried just about all methods of filling cartomizers and there's definitely a major difference between them. I started off taking off the end cap and dripping the e-liquid directly on to the filler or dripping directly into the end where the battery connects. That didn't go too well though. With the TV tobacco e-liquid it completely clogged and destroyed my cartomizers. I've gone as far as rubbing alcohol to unclog them and they still won't come clean.

I just switched over to the condom method and it works so much better. It don't clog my cartos at all, the cartos don't gurgle after filling them and most important I don't suck a ton of e-liquid in my mouth the first few hits. I'm surprised I didn't OD on nicotine a few times. I guess I'm lucky I decided to try the 12mg/ml liquid. If I used the 24mg I really might've overdosed. When I was using the drip method (from either end) I was always getting e-liquid in my mouth all the time, even when I didn't over-fill them.

I really really think that when you use the condom method it sucks the extra liquid out of the cartomizer when you pull the rubber condom thing off. I think that way the air tube that runs through the middle gets cleared and it works fine right after filling it. I don't have to blow out a ton of liquid before I vape anymore either. It don't waste as much e-liquid either.

As far as the vaporizers, I just drip a few drops in it at a time. Are there any better ways to use cartomizers/vaporizers? I wish I could find something inbetween. I don't like having to drip liquid every 5 drags, but the cartomizers don't taste as good and they don't produce nearly as much vapor. Also, should I use different cartomizers for my 5V passthrough than I use for my 3.7V batteries? It seems like higher resistance cartos should be used for batteries and lower resistance should be used for higher voltage devices. Thanks.

There is a theory the condom method can shorten the life of a carto (mentioned by some proponent of condom filling with videos on Youtube on how to do it). I don't know what he was basing that on. I just find it messy and of most use to people with rip-off rebrander cartos with glued on caps. If I had to fill a bunch of cartos at once at home, I would consider the condom method. But I don't need to do that. I did do it one time when I had to spin the juice out of a dud prefilled carto - I spun the juice out into a carto condom and then since it was already in there, I pushed it into a blank.

I have no problems filling soft-cap cartos the way they were intended to be filled and it makes it easy to keep it damp by just adding a bit of juice when it needs it. And even easier with a nice plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece.

I got a 2 weeks easily out of a Boge soft-cap filling it into the stuffing - was actually over a month of use 1/2 the time (I only use that carto 1/2 the time since I carry 2 PVs and alternate vaping on them). And it was still working pretty well when I set it aside for cleaning.

Dormouse, I must thank you. I usually tell people that I'm slow, but I get there. I guess that's the way it it with cartomizer's and me. Apparently reading you talk about soft cap cartomizer's for a little bit over a month finally set in, and I just had another look at the LR carto's I had bought, filled using the condom method not knowing any better, and subsequently given away because I got hot vapor, juice in my mouth, and just general nastiness. Well I went back and looked at the one that I had filled, and kept, and low and behold it had a soft cap! I pried that off and saw that it was very wet, and found a tip that I had laying around, so I put the extender tip on it, put it on my T-Rex battery and tried it out again, and I don't hate it! That's progress. I don't get the big clouds I thought I might get because it is LR, but the extender tip gave the vapor enough time to cool down, and enough room not to get juice in my mouth. Thank you again for diligently telling everyone about them as often as you do! And I want to thank the OP for giving me the opportunity to find all of this out.

I pre-fill 3-4 carts with the flavors I want and stick the little rubber cap back on. Then they all go into a small ziplock type bag (2 inches x 3 inches or so) and stick them in my pocket, backpack, etc. Seems to work well. Really depends on how fast you are draining a cart though.

This is my method of choice as well. Keep a little bottle of TH+, my juice of choice, a spare atty and an extra cart pre-filled with the cap that came on it in the baggy that my last delivery came in.

You're welcome Pneathery - I actually got the idea from Vapor4Life when they started selling the drip tips. I got one of their delrin ones than noticed my clear pink plastic one fit fine in the carto too, and later noticed LieCigUSA actually sells the clear plastic and delrin ones as being for 510/901/KR808D-1. I like both - the delrin is sturdier and smooth (and better if you want to also use it to drip on an atty) and the plastic is textured nicely on the outside.

Just make sure your air channel is clear in the carto and if any juice is pooled above the stuffing maybe clean that up with a folded bit of tissue. If there is loose juice around a hot carto is capable of shooting a hot drop right through the drip tip to your tongue - I had a little burn/blister on the end of my tongue for days after that. Now I am more careful about cleaning up loose juice.

BTW - I tried some SLB soft-cap cartos - I don't know the longevity yet but they are messier inside - no defined center channel - more like somebody cut a square out of a thick pad of stuffing, folded it over and shoved it in. And they have an inner donut-shaped seal or barrier (an extra thing to take out to be able to fill it, and sort of hard to get it back in where it was without accidentally compressing the stuffing). Vaping OK so far but it's just a spare flavor I carry with me that i vape occasionally. I haven't tried any of the 510 reservoir cartos yet (Joyetech or the CE2 aka Clearomizer and Fluxomizer) - I don't really want to carry a syringe around.

It's interesting, not really my favorite, I love the tanks. But they have NO FLAVOR at all. Good vapor, good performance, but no flavor. I had never felt that I had given the carto a fair chance, I knew there was something I was doing wrong with them. Oh thanks dor the warning on the hot squirting juice, that would be bad. I can only get three maybe four drags out of the carto, and then I have to drip more drops into the top. I start to get almost a singed taste. I'm hoping to try out some clearomizers one of these days if anyone can ever get any back in stock, I would absolutely loce to give MAP's mod of them a try too. I go through 6-10ML a day, and to have something I could fill in the morning, and VAPE almost all day would be wonderful! At times I've had to swap out one of my tank carts in 15 minutes before! Ya a map tank mod would be something I'd love to try, don't k ow how well it would work on my little ego batteries though. Well thanks again I now know why most people would like cartomizer's, not so much for me, but I can see it now.

For the eGo, get some Mega cylinder attys and Mega cartos, the ones almost as large as the battery. Each hold lots of juice, and a couple filled ones should last all day. The drawback, for some people, is you have to use a syringe to fill the Mega cartos. You can drip and or use a cartridge on the Mega cylinder atty. Heh, heh, I drip and fill the cartridge.
