You can use any cartomizer in a cartotank as long as:
It is the appropriate length for the length of tank. Use the above graphic to help.
It has holes to allow liquid from the tank to enter the cartomizer, whether laser-drilled or tool-punched. Do not attempt to use the cartos that have a colored sticker (usually black) around it.
It can be flanged, or non-flanged. The flange only keeps the carto from moving toward the PV. It does nothing to keep the tank from being pulled away from the PV. Always get into the habit of picking up your device by the PV end, and not by the tank. This is just common sense. Most cartotanks once the o-rings setup properly, will become pretty snug on the carto and not easily fall off by accident. (Smoktech
tanks are notorious for having "slidey"
tanks, and generally need the flange. Other manufacturer's tanks do not need this.)
