You can use any cartomizer in a cartotank as long as:

It is the appropriate length for the length of tank. Use the above graphic to help.

It has holes to allow liquid from the tank to enter the cartomizer, whether laser-drilled or tool-punched. Do not attempt to use the cartos that have a colored sticker (usually black) around it.

It can be flanged, or non-flanged. The flange only keeps the carto from moving toward the PV. It does nothing to keep the tank from being pulled away from the PV. Always get into the habit of picking up your device by the PV end, and not by the tank. This is just common sense. Most cartotanks once the o-rings setup properly, will become pretty snug on the carto and not easily fall off by accident. (Smoktech tanks are notorious for having "slidey" tanks, and generally need the flange. Other manufacturer's tanks do not need this.)

Should you ever have problems locating a vendor for pre-punched cartomizers, I have a huge list of them in my blog. Click the link under my avatar.

Not to hijack, but while we're talking about IBT's does anyone know if DCT caps will fit? i lost a cap for my IBT and need to find a replacement (hopefully cheaper than from IBT)

The large DCT caps will not fit, the 3.5ml tank end caps will fit, but they look ridiculous because the diameter is so small. The inner diameter of the IBTank 19mm tanks is the same as the slim 3.5ml DCTs, but the DCTs use a plastic tube that is many times thinner than the glass, so while the end caps will seal and fit the tube, the part of the cap that fits over on the outside of the tank tube will be smaller, so it just looks goofy.

How many of you prefer the stainless steel caps over the acrylic caps? Seems they are all sold out of the acrylic caps due to "high demand". Wondering if thats because of the lower price, better seal, looks or all of the above.

I prefer the stainless steel. The acrylic would be problematic if you put a juice in your tank that melted plastic. I would imagine the reason they were popular was solely because they came in colors.

I have only just started using IBTanked tanks so I am by no means an authority as many who have responded certainly seem to be. That being said until Ikenvape restocks their cartos I have ever been using single coil unflanged smoktechs and the fit seems pretty firm without any sliding issues. When you first insert a carto into the tank (at this point I would suggest using their little tool which is essentially a fluted drip tip) make sure the bottom seal and outside of the carto are clean and free of any e juice. The top one will have a bit on it after filling but if the bottom seal and carto seat together without any event juice in between you should get a nice snug fit. Not that I purposely hold my device by the tank (which is a provari and a bit heavy) but I certainly can without the tank sliding off the carto or moving at all for that matter. Hope that helps.
