I drink iced tea all day with equal. I think the equal sweetens my e-liquid indirectly. I definitely think the iced tea is a good pallette cleanser. Although I'd watch with the hot tea...you'll wreck it if you burn your tongue....

Yeah...I was. Lol But I'll take whatever advice I can get considering I'm pretty new to this vapaing thing (it'll be a full month tomorrow).

Hey zara1269...I like hot tea and assuming that's what you were talking about as a palate cleanser, I wonder if iced tea will work, too. With just a little bit of sugar in it. Usually, I'm either sipping on a Mt Dew or a bottle of water. I can taste my ejuice and I love them all, but I'm thinking if I had a good palate cleanser, they'll be even better.

Thanks,

Kat

The iced tea that's lightly sweetened with some lemon seems to be working pretty good. I'm thinking the lemon, b/c it's a citrus, helps. I've gotten some really great advice on this thread. Thanks everyone! HUGS

That's pretty much it...what, in your opinion...makes good palate cleansers when you're wanting to try a variety of ejuices during the day?

Kat

Actually, I was talking about a way to clear your entire palate/smell/throat for a new flavor. I did get sidetracked to the atty cleaning and having other e-juice residue can alter the flavor (sometimes subtly and sometimes radically).

For me, the Mentholyptus clears everything back to a neutral place where the next e-juice is a fresh experience. Perhaps you can find a flavor that does that for you. I imagine it might be different for everyone.

I also have some weak, plain coffee I sip throughout the day as I vape (along with glasses of plain water every now and then to keep hydrated).

I'm very interested in hearing what ends up working for you.

Mentholyptus as in an ejuice flavor or maybe a Halls cough drop? I do like that flavor. Cleans out the sinuses really well.

I love coffee but if I drink too much of it, it bothers my stomach. I do drink a lot of water throughout the day, maybe a can or 2 of Mt Dew and lots of iced tea. I just recently discovered that if I squeeze a lemon wedge into the tea, it makes for a nice taste bud restorer.

Coffee. Black. And I have a little 2 oz snap-lid container with coffee beans in it. Sniff 'em and your olfactory gets a complete reboot. Perfume shops have coffee beans sitting on the counter to reset your sniffer so you can smell the different fragrances. There is something about the oils that completely wipe out all the scents that are stored in the receptors, but it is easily replaced with other scents.

Since taste is estimated to be 80%-90% smell, it made sense to me, and has worked well. Don't use ground coffee though, the particles of the grounds can get into your nose and the smell won't go away. I've also been more diligent about using my tongue scraper when brushing my teeth because the plaque and mucus build-up on your tongue holds flavors like crazy. Keeping that off your tongue really helps.

Pickled Ginger. Every good Sushi restaurant serves it between different kinds of Sushi - it helps to clean your mouth and enhance the flavors of the different Sushi. You can buy it in small jars or make your own. Here is the link to a good recipe:

Pickled ginger recipe - gari recipe - sushi recipe

and a link to where you can buy it cheaply:

Pickled Vegetable - Orchids - Orchids Sushi Ginger 8 Oz | AsianFoodGrocer.com

It really works, and is very pleasant to eat.

Thanks Banjo! I happen to love sushi and I love the pickled ginger, too. I will definitely go to the store and buy a jar of it. If I can't find any, then I'll make some.

LOL..yeah hot tea. When I posted that I thought I should have clarified that but was too lazy. Darn Sundays!

I think Iced Tea would work as well. It's just b/c tea has such a mild flavor and it's usually something that is a nice background for other flavors that are added so I figured it would work well for vaping.

If you really want to cleanse your palate...in the food world they use Sorbet to cleanse between courses.

Also you have me thinking of something...is vaping more taste or smell (probably a mix of both)...if it's more a smell thing I have heard that you can sniff coffee beans to cleanse your olfactory "palate"...they do this in some candle and perfume shops.

salty unflavored crackers like a Saltine work like a charm.

I vape the Totally Wicked Decandent Vapor Mentholyptus juice. It is my all day, every day vape. I alternate it with many other PV's with different flavors in each. I do keep similar flavors in specific attys i.e. chocolates together, fruities together, tobaccos, menthols, cinnamons, coffees, etc.

I like the suggestion of the coffee beans to clear the smell and that still leaves the palette and throat uncleared. I've tried the cough drops but they leave too much residue to really get a clean vape of a new flavor.

I must disagree with some of the advice given here. Not flaming at all.

1. Coffee/tea are bad ideas. For one, both have strong aromas. Secondly, they tend to acidify the mouth and to "pucker" the taste buds.

2. Sorbet?? LOL You've got to be kidding me. The last time I asked for "sorbet" at the local grocery store in my little town, the clerk thought I was talking dirty.

3. Menthol-eucalyptus, while a good sinus opener has a strong aroma which lingers. That can't be good.

Here's what I have done in my short vaping experience:

* Gently brush the tongue with a dry toothbrush. The gag reflex becomes manageable with a bit of practice and with breathing through the nose. Swish the mouth with water.

* Most municipal water and all bottled waters are slightly alkaline (from added calcium). This helps normalize the pH in the mouth and provides for better tasting.

* Take a break from vaping long enough to allow the body to naturally cleanse the previous flavor from your mouth and sinuses. Fresh air works wonders.

Just my take. I love coffee and tea (Constant Comment...yum!) but I don't think they're great ways to prepare for vaping a new flavor.

I agree with what you advised does not work. As far as what works... JUST EAT CRACKERS. Plain or salted. It works...
