What mech mod do you recommend?

I'm new to the forum, not to vaping.
I've been vaping for about a year now and am looking to get my first real mod (been using a custom built). I've been looking at the Hammer mod and a Kanger Aerotank, but I'm interested in what the community thinks.
What mech mod and tank set up do you recommend?

I'll assume you're talking about clones, not authentics.

The hammer clone is a bust--too much voltage drop. I have a brass stingray, a brass 4nine, a stainless panzer, a stainless gnome and the hammer. My favorite is the gnome but it's not available anymore. The Atomo V2 is close however. The panzer is durable, works well but is heavy and ugly.

Authentic -- beyond vape sage mod, silo tank with bvc coils.
The Silo tank with BVC is a really good tank setup.
Cartel Copper Mod clone is a hefty beast. The copper 4nine clone
is nice little hybrid.

to ecf Erik098. Glad to have you here. Just a wonderful place to be as far as I am concerned. After trying many things, I am now using what I am 99.9% sure I will use for the rest of my vaping life. That is what it is all about. Finding what makes you the happiest. The reo grand is a awesome mod and vape and I am the happiest I have ever been. Can't really imagine it getting any better. Good luck to you at finding what makes you giddy.

The Hammer is tricky. You need to replace the top cap with the chi you top cap to fix the voltage drop. It's wonky looking if you want to use an 18650 battery, but that can be fixed with a bit of work. I'd say go with a nice, simple, telescopic or tube mod as a first mod, then try the Hammer.

I own the Hammer, plus a brass m16, copper Cartel, and ss Launcher. The other three are very user-friendly, simple mods.

Get a Magneto and a Kayfun. You will love it dearly. If you wanna go to an RBA I'd recommend an Infinite Tobh Clone.

The Magneto is nice because it's telescoping. You can use a tiny 18350 battery in there for stealth-mode, or you can use an 18650 if you want to use it all-day. With a .7 ohm build in your Kayfun, it'll be hitting real nice, and the battery will easily last your whole day.

I can only vouch for the V1 Magneto, and the V1 is everything you could possibly ask for. Mine has been dropped dozens of times, it's my "mag-beato" or my "beater mod". I take it camping and places where if I were to destroy it, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Stingray X in 18500 hybrid top cap and a kayfun in nano setup look pretty slick together whilst not being too big. Especially if you have a driptip with a nice copper accent to top it of with.
