columbus, oh
Ordered a K100 mech mod yesterday. it will be my first Mech. have 5 VV/VW's but wanted to try something different. any do's and dont's with the K100? Wildman

YouTube is your friend. Get a good IMR battery and read up on battery safety especially if your going to sub ohm. Always crank your telescope out bigger than your battery before putting it in and then put on end cap and shorten mod till some resistance. Don't over tighten. Always use your locking ring so you don't fire when you don't want to. Start with a cheap RBA and enjoy. I got a Phoenix V10 to start with as easy to build on and hits great. Have fun and when you get hooked start looking at the big money stuff. Lol

Thanks 1Wildman! got some good IMR's on hand, been getting into coil building and have built a few coils the past couple of weeks for my Igo-l's have 5 more coming on the slow boat from china, I expect them to arrive in about 2 weeks, maybe sooner. still have a few good meters hanging around the house (I was an electronic bench tech for a few years) used to work for a company building ground pounder amps.
Thanks for the info, will check out the youtube videos!

...that Otto Carter though...

good stuff posted here. the nemesis clones from HCigar are quite well made, as are the Kings and Chi's. the Kamry line is not bad for the price. you know about battery and atty safety for your builds, so the question mainly comes down to aesthetics...a full size 18650 mod? a small 18350 mod? the majority of all the mods that have been listed are adjustable to fit the standard battery sizes, so it goes back to what you want to build for it [safety first!], then what looks good to you.
although one thing that has caught my attention recently are some 14500 dripper hybrid clones. can't build too low for that battery, but with some inventive coiling and cotton wicking one can have good vapor and flavor, plus the full device is so compact! still learning how to post links and pics, but google can show you until then.

I wouldnt order any of the smoktech stuff including the magneto... just had one of their bolts completely melt down because of a cheap wiring. Yes I know the bolt is a sub $20 mod but its a Tube, 3 bits of wire, a switch, and a 510 connector. You think they could use real wire and actually solder it correctly. Really scary stuff - I will rebuild it but am ...... that i blew $20 on a piece of threaded pipe.

The K100 is a great device to start on. If you go with a Clone get an Hcigar or good quality clone otherwise you may end up with a mess like i got.
The Bolt is not really a mech as it has wires. I have seen several people more experienced than I state you should not build any low resistance coils and use them on that as the wiring is known to be very thin. I wouldn't judge smoktech based on that alone. THe Magneto is supposed to be a great mech(I do not have one so cannot comment). The K100 is a nice little mech. I like the appearance of it more than any other telescoping device.

I agree with you, but will add, they both will do the same thing. Put an IGO-L on top and the right coil you won't know the difference if you don't have it in your hand to feel it.

I agree with the suggestions for the Nemesis. I have one from Fasttech and it is my most used device. Very easy to use and very easy to set up. The switch on mine works great.

Get a really cheap one that you like the look of, from that one you will learn about what you really want.

v1ck.

exactly what i was going to advise... buy something with the features you think you will like. use it for a while and start watching some reviews of higher end mech's if you still have the urge. you will never regret buying a quality unit. but you may regret buying 4 or 5 clones to find out what you like. been there and done that...
