Investing in revolution cig style 808 batts to get started vaping, constantly ruining cartos underfilling them, upgrading to ego-ts and not understanding how ohms work, for the longest time i thought that the higher the ohms were the hotter the vape haha i was always dissapointed. It's been a whole year now and what a learning curve.

I think the biggest mistake I made was convincing my wife we would be saving a shed-load of money. Its only been about a month since I quit analogs and started vaping. Total saving savings to date, $0. I love buying all this stuff. Its become a hobby of mine. Wife calls it an obsession. I'm starting a very nice collection of stuff, not to mention the several lifetimes worth of juice, nic base, PG, VG and flavor concentrates I have. I love it. Got a new mod arriving in the mail this week too

Oh, here's another mistake for you. Having two shipping addresses.
Once you get a feel for shipping times, you're pretty well set in knowing when something is going to come in.
Myself being deployed in southern Texas, I normally have my vape mail sent to that location. For my Christmas orders, I forgot to figure in where I would be for about half my orders.. Ugh.. Ok, the real Christmas presents made it to my actual home address.. but I still have 2 more packages being delivered to my deployment address.. Had another delivered there yesterday.. and I won't be back there for another week!!! UUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHH!!! (good thing I have soldiers watching out for me and my vape mail )

My worst mistake was 3 years ago I started with a Blu kit...It was not like smoking at all .."cool charging pack but flavor and TH were minimal"...it did not have the power I needed to quit smoking, So I got rid of it and figured that was what e-cigs had to offer...I should have dug more into it, found the forum and good setups to buy..I would have been over three years smoke free instead of one. This is a route too many people are taking, many times when I'm out people will tell me they tried one they got from a gas station and it was gross
God where to start with mistakes... haha the list goes on and on.
For starters, yes, buying a disposable from Wally World. I mean I guess for 9 bucks to realize that I could actually use and E-Cig might have been worth it, but I had basically come to that conclusion buy puffin on my buddy's ego at work. So I guess that one is a wash.
My next mistake was starting with a Joyetech E-Cab. I used to smoke American Spirits, and for those who have tried 'em before, it's like 2 cigs in 1. So for me to start on a low-power pen style system was just a bad idea. I was hittin that sucker so hard I constantly had juice in my mouth, and the battery would only last me MAYBE 2 hours of hard vaping. I was flooding attys like crazy, and to this day I still don't use attys, probably based on 1 bad experience with a woefully under powered system. I have a theory that the B&M store in Florida I bought mine from actually tries to start people on systems that won't quite meet their needs, hoping that they will be back in a week liking the concept of vaping but needing MORE POWER! To me that is a bit scammy, especially because they are probably turning people off from e-cigs who just get frustrated and go back to analogs.
I too also made the mistake of buying big bottles of juice without trying flavors. I probably dumped $100 into big bottles before I realized some of them were just awful and sample sizes were the way to go. So far I have only found 1 flavor from 1 juice seller that really does it for me.
The next mistake I made was buying my parts sparingly. Being a newb, I found myself burning cartos like crazy, flooding things, dry-hitting, over-filling, under-filling, you name it. I never seemed to have enough juice delivery systems on hand. I would buy 2 cartos at a time, and if the first 1 kicked and I burned the second trying to fill it, I was suddenly SOL. I still get a burning taste from the first few hits of a carto. Growing pains I guess.
I still continually make the mistake of not having enough back-up parts for what I am using. Ego type systems are great for what they are, but IMHO they are not of the highest quality and I tend to abuse my equipmonk. I keep finding myself in the same place. Buy a couple of Ego C Upgrades, lose one at a party. Buy an Ego Twist, my other Ego stops working. Then the next day my Twist snaps in half in my pocket. No more vaping for me. Buy another twist, and my threads on the charger get stuck, causing me to pull the metal charging piece out and break the charger. No more vaping for me. (Probably should have cleaned the charger a few more times...) oh well, live and learn. It seems I need to have 5 egos, 3 chargers, 10 cartos, 12 tanks, and 30 bottles of juice on hand to always be prepared. I am learning my lesson slowly, and my Christmas money will be going towards a Stainless Steel Vamo, chargers, batteries, and a couple of 650 Twists. Just to get my started again. NEVER RUN OUT OF EQUIPMENT OR JUICE! You will be back on the analogs in a heartbeat.
So to finish off this rant of mine, I guess I have made many mistakes and I still make them all the time. But if there is any advice I could offer to a fellow newb, it would be to invest in a solid APV, with plenty of juice-delivery system options and back-ups, multiple batteries, and a back-up charger or 2. And get sample sizes of juices before you commit to a 30 or 60 ml bottle. There is nothing worse than having 5 bottles of useless juice just layin' around. Also, if you're going the Ego route, buy like 5 batteries, so when they start breaking and stop working, you aren't left puffing on analogs stressing over where to order your Vamo from.

Buying cartos from Blu. I wasn't a heavy analog smoker but buying carts was getting to be more pricey than my cig habit once I factored in shipping.
I burned up a bunch of cartomizers by letting them run dry, and I popped a couple of low resistance atomizers on my Vtube.
still a newb... still learning. best advice.. always have spares and plenty of juice....

Vaping for a month and I'm already on my fourth setup. And lord knows I'm sure it won't be my last. But hey, it's keeping me off analogs, so I'm just fine with "blissfully unaware" for now.

I agree! And buy plenty of batteries and portable chargers too! Nothing worse than having lost a battery and the others dead and you're on the road!
Ain't nothing wrong with the Volt. I use it a lot. Now that they're sealed and have a better batt, they're really quite impressive! Love the nano they sell. No hassle filling and lasts forever without spoiling the look of your ecig.
