My mum always told me that when in polite company, to avoid arguments, I should never talk about politics or religion. She was a very wise woman but I don't always follow her advice. Maybe it was more appropriate in the Northern Ireland I grew up in, politics and religion caused many atrocities, deaths and mutilations there. I don't like the idea of offending anyone but the world is a lighter, less desperate place nowadays and politics and religion can be a laugh if you don't take yourself too seriously.

Anyway this is about politics, if you've never come across the Political Compass then have a look here - The Political Compass. Our ideas of left and right wing are outdated and we should see other political dimensions they reckon. If you have a spare few minutes you might like to take the test and find out where you stand politically. You might be surprised to discover what company you keep when you compare your results with famous people and parties.
