As I understand it 2.4 and 2.8 are best to use on a VV to get the most out of that feature. I can't explain why through numbers, but from experience it's been great for me!
This makes sense to me. Assuming that the manufacturer uses a single thickness of resistive wire to build all of their units, the higher-resistance heads would use a greater length of wire (more turns) than the lower-resistance units. This would provide a greater total surface area on the heating element for the liquid to contact, and allow the surface of the element to run cooler for a given total wattage. In theory, this would mean more vapor production with less burning.

Actually, the reason you want to stay around 2.5ohm on a VV/VW is due to the current limitation on those devices, like the VAMO I own. It maxes out at 2.5Amps, 6Volts, and 15Watts. Power = I^2 * R. With that formula, plug in I=2.5 and R=2.4, you'll get 15Watts on the nose. If you use LR coils, you'll lower the available max power of the device.
