Hi
As many of you know I'm new here and love this forum. I would love to hear how and why you got into vaping . My husband and I both smoked for 20 years give or take a few years . He was introduced at work by a very patient and kind friend who has advised and helped us both :p it's just been a few weeks we are both using Tornado- nic kits from Totally Wicked and really impressed . We have had a few bumps but this group of amazing people and information has really helped . Well thanks and good luck to you all :)

Grats!

I started on a small ecig and quit a 30+ year 1.5+ PAD habit immediately. Upgraded by the end of the month to two good slim manual minis which I vape with cartomizers. Starting about 3 months into vaping I worked my nicotine down a step at a time and now I am way down at 4mg (not much TH but I bought a couple of long-charge 3.7v devices to give extra oomph to the 510 Boge standard resistance cartos and I could go to LR cartos for more heat on just those 450mah+ devices if I want even more heat). I found juices I like that are also thin and drop little or no flavoring sediment so my cartos work well for at least a week each. it's nice.

I'm new here too, just started vaping 5 days ago. Here's how stupid I was: I saw ads on TV, and my tobacco store had a sign saying they had "e-cigarettes", but everything was talking about vapor, no second-hand smoke, etc., and I couldn't figure out why anyone would think that inhaling vapor would be similar to smoking. Then I by chance found out that the vapor contains nicotine. Ohhhh... well, that's different. Am not completely switched over but see it coming. Best of luck to us both.

Thank you all for your replies :) if I have a rough patch I jump on here and it helps to hear other people's experience . Grace :) I don't think your stupid at all my niece kept trying just to get me to "try " it and I was so close minded . It was only when my husband started having breathing issues that I took the plunge with him.

CrazyiPadMom, welcome to our little world here on the ECF.

For me there was a day when absolutely everything I encountered or saw on TV was about these battery powered cigarettes. I, like many here, had been feeling particularly upset with my habit so I decided to go online and find out more. By the end of the night I had ordered my first KR808 kit with extra cartomizers. A couple days later they arrived and after two days of comparing smoking to vaping I made the switch. Who would have thought that a guy from the heart of tobacco country whose family has been growing the stuff since before the first colonists arrived would be able to make the switch over to a battery powered peace pipe? Now I love sucking my batteries more than I ever loved sucking on burning leaves.

I too started with the Tornado from Totally Wicked. After the first drag I knew this was for me! I smoked for 31 years and was getting tired of having to go outside all the time to smoke. I started doing research and came across Totally Wicked and never looked back! October 22 will be a year smoke free. I love vaping! These forums are a great help! Good luck!

I had tried e-gigs in a mall about a year ago. It was cool, but I didn't much like the flavor. Soon after cigs went up to 9.50 in NYS and my 20 year pack a day habit was getting expensive. Two weeks ago I bought a disposable, did some research, and found this forum. Two fridays ago, my Volt arrived! I still smoked the rest of my pack (albeit much more slowly!), but that was it! I've now been cig free for a week! I'm currently looking for new juices that I might like. Today I picked up some Johnson Creek Vanilla, and I like it, but there isn't a ton of vapor, and it seems dark and thick, like something that will shorten my carto life......

Read an article on a PC news site about a new gadget, that was all it took.
That was also the first I'd heard of e-cigs. Saw two articles on Gizmodo about Blu cigs. Ordered a starter kit, started searching for some more info with Google, and found this site. Ordered an eGo before the Blu even arrived. Haven't looked back yet, and just passed the 1 month mark :)

Gave the Blu kit to a friend who was struggling with quitting smoking, and ordered a few other toys along the way as well.

well for me i did as many others here have about 2 years ago i was browsing the interwebs and saw a add for Blu cigs looked at it for a while and after much debate i decided to order it. needless to say it didnt do a thing for me though i liked some of the flavors it came with it just didnt give me what i needed. so 2 years past and my mother started having breathing problems and had to have breathing treatments. she was able to quit cold turkey (or had to) and i asked myself do i really wanna end up like that? obviously not. i tried to go cold turkey i just couldnt do it. About a month before my little girl was born (2 months ago today) i decided to do some searching on the web and came across this site researched on here for about 8 hours then decided to order a echo the day i received it is the day i quit smoking all together. so ive been smoke free for almost 3 months and im so greatful for the ppl here on ecf they are the ones who help me quit and even better stoped me from harming my daughter with my second hand smoke. now i dont have to worry about harming her or her mother.
thats my story. Happy vaping!

P.S. - Crazy Canuck also just took the leap into happily anxiously awaiting a new GLV Land, so I'd say it's going well up north for our Canadian brethren even if their policy makers are even more crazed than ours right now.

So prepare yourself CrazyiPadMom as you;re just beginning to realize vaping isn't just about the vapors it's about the gadgets and community. Viva La Vape!

I had a "lung cancer scare" at the end of last month.

Injured my ribs, had x-rays taken. The doc saw something in my right lung and said "you NEED to go get that checked out". (hint, hint)

So, I went for the CT scan with contrast at the end of that week. The doc that ordered the CT called me that same day and told me the CT came back normal. (I guess it was just an anomaly on the xray-- they said it could have caught a blood vessel at just the right angle and made it look like that "blip")

Anyways, it scared the bejeesus out of me for about an entire week. I always think the worst, and I knew he was hinting at lung cancer. (As soon as he saw that thing on the xray he asked if I smoked.) I said "THANK GOD" the CT came back normal, but it really made me think about what smoking would do to me eventually.

Anyways, I decided I needed to give up my PAD habit, so I started Googling 'e-cigarettes'. Led me to this forum, which led me to purchase my eGo. I've dropped from a pack a day, to about 4 or 5 cigs a day. I'm slowly working my way down to none.

Best of luck everyone.

I think it's the community on these boards that helps the most with keeping some of us analog free. Anytime I've felt the urge (not often, but it does happen), I just grab my nearest PV and sit down at the computer and read these threads. You see other people making it, and it inspires you to keep at it.

Congrats cRaZyIpAdMoM.

I ran into a friend with a 7-11 store bought ecig, did some research and ordered a kr808d-1 starter kit. Quit the day the kit arrived, found ECF and then the real fun began. :)
Smoked for 48 years, and have been 1 year analog free.
Love vaping, buying, and reading about all the goodies, (some baddies), related. It's really changed my life for the better. Hope it does for you too. ;)

...3R4 years ago, when I first became aware of e-cigs, I did a little research and all the companies I looked at were either fraudulent or practiced Gillette style marketing...I dropped the idea right there...fast forward to now...I am 57 and(was) a 3ppd/40yr smoker and knew I hadda quit...my wife, a nurse, smoked 1ppd/40yr and the hospital where she works is pushing REALLY HARD to stop all employees from smoking and she asked that I look again...I found ECF, bought 2 Riva510s and 90ml of joose from LF, along with some Boge2.0s and EMDCCs from CCV...all due to what I learned here...she quit the funkarettes immediately on last Thur morn when she started with her Riva, I have smoked 14 stinkies since last Wed nite and was smoke free yesterday(and going on today) for the first time in 40 yrs...and that's my story no matter what anybody sez!!!!!!!!!
