Ive finnaly tried a cheap e-cig someone had and know I could switch. But so confused on what I should buy. The one I tried was a cheap cart auto which after a little research I know is not the way to go. I am a pack a day smoker(down from 2 packs a year ago) and do truely love smoking. I cant spend a fortune and I make my own cigs so cost factor for me now is 30-40 dollars a month for cigs. I been reading reviews between 3v and 6v and not sure what I should start with. I dont want to buy a ton of kits till i find the right one. The prodigy v3 looks nice but maybe to much to start out with? the Joye ego maybe? I am so confused help! :)

Whats the difference between the ego and the 510?

The Joye 510 is a very popular newbie kit....but the battery power is low. The regular Joye 510 battery is 180mAh, and will last 1-2 hours between charges. It is small and resembles a "cigarette." The eGo is larger....referred to as a "fat batt"...about the size of a "Sharpie" pen and has a 650mAh battery that will last 5-7 hours between charges.

The eGo is the way to go. The Riva is an eGo clone, but highly respected on it's own. You can get a Riva kit with two complete e-cigs, charger, everything you'd need, for under $30 here: E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings. You need to make sure you click on the 20% off button on the top left of the screen, then search for Riva lite bundle.

is there a riva 510 and a riva ego?

510 refers to the size of the atomizer (heating element). Riva and eGo are better battery PV's (personal vaporizers) that use the 510 atomizer from a connection (threading) standpoint. The most popular atomizers used (named by their connector size -threading) are the 510, 801, 901 and 808.

riva and eGo are basically the same battery but made by different manufacturers. Either are fine and provide better performance because of the better batteries that you will get with the eGo/Riva over regular small battery 510 PV. And always use manual batteries (small button) instead of auto batteries as they generally perform significantly better and provide better control for the user.

It really depends on how self conscious you are. You cannot go wrong with an ego/Tornado/Riva kit which will have battery capacities high enough to keep you vaping for a bit. I would stay away from the mini kits as the batteries just do not last.

You might try something like an Indulgence or a Stack from MadVapes (also Chameleon, some others). These units will allow you to vape at both 3.7 or higher with an extended tube for stacking batteries.

A 510 style thread allows you to use cartomizers or atomizers or drip. So do some of the others.

As a beginner, you should really look at a flexible system since you do not know where you will end up as a vaper.

Ego or Riva 510 Lite bundle from Liberty-flights is the best bang for the buck. When you buy your kit don't forget to get some juice. If you get your kit from liberty-flights 5ml bottles are only about $2.50 each.Get an assortment of flavors and strengths to see whats right for you. Flavors you don't care for keep and try again in a couple weeks. Your sense of taste (smell) come back when you quit smoking. Unless you have a local source for juice get enough for 2 weeks.

If you're not on a tight budget add a low resistance atty and drip tip to your order. They don't cost much and gives you a chance to play. :)

Newbie to newbie this is a very new technology. It's not perfected. That's why you see so many different mods. Most of the components are handmade and of variable quality. So you may have to do some tinkering to get things to work right. Don't expect everything to work perfectly all the time like a cigarette does.

On the other hand, you'll feel better, you'll smell better and you won't be near as restricted on where you can do it. It's also the closest thing to smoking that isn't smoking. Two weeks in, I'm finding that the nicotine strength I need/can use is bouncing around. I'd recommend buying some high strength and low/no strength juice in the same flavor so you can adjust as necessary. Tasty Vapor sells it that way. Others do too. Get some empty bottles too.

As far as kits go, if you really want something that resembles a cigarette then you need to get a 510 kit but, as others have said, if you can handle the difference go, with an ego for the longer battery life. Either way most mods/new products will work with those type of batteries.

You're better off not having anything that looks like a cigarette. People love to give smokers a hard time. I've never had anyone say anything to me with my ego. I've gotten odd looks but no one ever thinks I'm smoking a cigarette.

+1, Excellent advice! The less your PV looks like the real thing, the better for all of us from a perception standpoint. Plus their is this:

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Note: for most newbies to make the transition, it is much better to error on the side of a higher nicotine strength eliquid than lower. The most commonly used strength level is 24mg. I would recommend getting some 24mg strength eliquid. You can always make it weaker but you can't make it stronger.
