What should I expect when withdrawing from analogs?

I was reading another post where a few people mentioned getting sick after quitting analogs. I'm familiar with new non-smokers hacking up lung butter for a good while after stopping, but I've never heard of any other withdrawal symptoms (other than the obvious nic fit and not knowing what to do with your hands, which I'll hopefully be avoiding by vaping). It was also mentioned that I'll need to up my fluid intake - why is that? Is it because the ingredients in eliquid are emulsifiers? (sp) Is there anything else I need to know about my first days/weeks of vaping?

I tried finding threads covering my questions, but didn't have any luck, so thanks!

I had some terrible symptoms, but I actually quit before I started totally vaping. I found vaping when I was at my wits end and ready to cave. Some people didn't really have many symptoms at all. I was sick. You will hack up stuff regardless of vaping vs. not vaping because your body will be clearing itself. You need plenty of water to help it clear itself and because vaping can cause you to dry out some. Good luck!

Expect to have the munchies. Irritability elevated by almost any thing. The first week smoke smells good and desireable, after that it's the worst smell in the world. The first week or two is the worst and you can feel flue like symptoms in the first week. Most people will suggest starting with a high amount of nicotine in your vapor. I on the other hand was able to just vape nic free to quit. It took lots of will power and the feeling and visual effects of the vapor really helped me out. All of the pros out weigh the cons and the financial rewards are only going to make a smoke free life that much easier. The most important thing I can tell you is DO NOT HAVE EVEN ONE SMOKE OR CIGAR! The cravings after one will be like quitting all over again.

Thanks ctourtelot - that was a great link (and just what I was looking for). I just checked my email, and it looks like our kits are set to arrive on Saturday, which is great because then hubby and I can play with them in the afternoon when the two younger kids are napping, and he'll get a bit of practice before going to work on Monday with them. As I'm a stay/work at home mom, my commute is much less, lol, and as it is, I believe I'll enjoy not having to go outside for a smoke while peering in through the screen door, hoping the 1 and 2 year olds aren't torturing the cat or climbing on the tv stand.

Not looking forward to the coughing, though. Or cottonmouth. :glare:

Over the first few weeks, you will notice a growing amount of cash in your pocket
You will notice fresh air
You will notice a vast improvement in health
But the main thing you will notice is the great satisfaction of having kicked stinking analogs into touch all by yourself....Frank
I found less cash in my pockets and lots of charges on my cards! Really after forty years smoking this has been really easy but, I'm still new at it. Make sure you have backups because that's when I went back after an equipment failure.

I just quite analogs after being a pack a day smoker for 20+ years. I actually found it quite easy. I just tried to mimik my analog smoking habit/schedule. I have been analog free for 1 month now.

I did find a couple of things annoying when I first tried e-cigarettes though. I was a chain smoker and hated using atomizers. I had to keep dripping. I would suggest you get a pack of clearomizer or cartomizers and fill 2-4 of them for the day. Whenever your out of juice, just screw a fresh one on. If you smoke a stick every hour or so, the atomizer should be fine.

I had a sore throat on and off for weeks after until I worked out that PG (the stuff a lot of nic juices are mixed with) and I don't get on too well, but other than feeling a bit run down and lethargic (which might have had nothing to do with quitting) I had almost no symptoms at all, not even hacking my lungs up; but then I realised I was never a "deep" inhaler anyway and also reasonably active so that was probably why.

I was a 30 a day hand rolled smoker, I just stopped smoking when I started vaping and I never looked back, I think "some" of the symptoms folks get can also be as a result of finding the right nic and juice combinations, as I've already said I discovered I prefer low PG mixes, I also discovered very quickly that the 18mg that everybody told me to try to start was waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy to strong, if I vaped too often I found my ears were "whoosing" and I felt nauseous, I cut back first to 14mg, then a few weeks later to 11mg and within 6 weeks I was at the stage I am now, around 4-6mg depending upon the time of day.

I had a good ol' fashion case of gas that lasted 2 weeks. After 22 years of marriage, it was payback time for hubby. Also, I had dry mouth until I figured out I needed more water. Get some healthy snacks...carrots, celery, stuff like that because you may/may not get the munchies. Urine will be extremely dark in color and have a worse odor than normal. Keep drinking as this will clear up. You will go through a spell of not being able to taste your vape about the 2-4 week mark. We all go through this. Keep vaping and don't give up. Get a bottle of strong flavored mint, spearmint, wintergreen, or cinnamon to help you through this because you won't be able to taste anything other than these.
