What size screw and/or bit to wrap around 2 ohms

Hello,

I am trying to get a good wrap standard to make things easy for myself so I can replicate the same build each time. Freehanding the wrap is ok, but I get varying ohms depending on how tight or loose I wrap it that day.

I have 30,32, and 34 awg kenthal to use, but I'd like to try to stick to 32 or 30.

What would be the best size machine screw to use with how many wraps for the gauge? Any suggestions to point me in the right direction would be very much appreciated.

There are so many variables iT is impossible To answer your quesTion. What ohm level are you trying to reach? What are you building on? There arecalculators available to get you what you need. Steam engine or if using an anDroid vapers toolbox is availAble Play Store. Read up on batteRy safety Ohm's law and, building coils on this site and when you know what to build you'll be ready to build it.

I do use a multi meter to measure out my builds and check for shorts.

I typically just use some silica and freehand wrap around it and get an average build, but am just wanting to tighten up my build.

I was just wondering if some others have sort of narrowed down a 2 ohm build using either 30 and/or 32 gauge wire with a particular screw and/or bit to get me a good starting point.

I use the above Stanley precision screwdriver set purchased from Walmart for around $7. The bits vary by diameter and are marked on the handle. I use the 2.0 mm driver to wrap my coils.

I use 32ga on a 1/16" drill bit. It depends on the device and how long the legs are but 5-6 open wraps (not touching as in micro coils) will get me around 1.9-2.0 ohms. I use that for things I wick with cotton.

If I am using 2mm silica for wicking, I go up to a 5/32" bit and 4-5 open wraps.

There are micro coils where the wraps in the coil are compressed and touch each other...these will take more wraps.

So there are different methods to get to the same resistance.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. That gives me a bit of an idea of where to start. Looks like it's practice makes perfect, but helps give me an idea of how others are getting the job done!

lazy hand wrapped duals of 32g using 5mm silica. So, in your case - 4 wraps of single 32g.

I also use a small screwdriver as it is easier to hold than an actual screw or drill bit. Plus, take your time when you wrap so that you're guaranteed a good tight wrap when you build.
