This question can get complicated quick, I know from experience (I asked the same thing this weekend!). You may not be knowledgeable at all about the lingo so if you see abbreviations you don't understand, if they have a dotted line under them, you can hover over it to see what it means.
If you're looking for an e-cig that resembles a regular analog cigarette, you have a lot of options, but the one I settled for was the Volt starter kit:

I purchased the $45 kit. It comes with 2 batteries and 5 cartos (the tip that holds the juice). The carto is said to be equivalent to 6 cigarettes (not 1-1.5 packs as I originally stated,
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/index.php/beginner-ecigarette-tutorial-2.html). With that, you'll be able to choose the amount of nicotine you want. It ranges from none (0%) to extra high (2.4%) on that site. I cannot recommend what strength you should get so you should research that. As a smoker, to make a successful transition, they say you'll want to have backups of your backups, so it may do well for you to get more than just the $50 starter kit.
There are other options out there as well, enough to make your head spin, so I thought I'd just straight up give you what I came to the conclusion of getting. I haven't tried it out yet so I can't comment on how good it is, but people around here seem to all agree that it's a quality device. I don't know what options you'll find if you look for them in a walk in store, but it seems the more popular store-found brands (like Blu) aren't quite as good as some of the ones you can get online.
