And it will come as no surprise that the French study was funded by a guy called Bercy who is the guy who manages the French tobacco tax. It was not direct but he funds the group who paid for it. I think he is protecting his job at the expense of our lives..... Shame on him.
Edit: I was a bit off mark. It was the publication that published it who's owner is funded by Bercy. Sorry.
Actually Bercy is not a guy but our government itself, or rather the place where it sits. Like you would say "Washington" when referring to your own government.
This publication is basically owned by the government but most french people don't know it, so it's very trusted.
The fact is that the french government is expected to legislate on e-cigs after the summer holidays ("legislate" meaning to accommodate big pharma/Big T lobbies, and probably create a 85% tax like for cigarettes), so this is the timing you would expect for such an article.
This was on all the media the following day, all the frontpages and headlines, TV etc. They didn't clearly give their testing protocol, and the lab that conducted the tests is secret.
The job is done: now most people in France do believe that e-cig are highly dangerous. There we go! Now let's "protect" them!
