A suggestion would be for Imeo to lock the threads he makes when he is telling us some new information ie the stickies....It just seems lately members are posting there and not on the forum...just a thought

yes but let me just use the AFS thread for example, only half the posts are actually contributing to the thread, the rest are just plain stupid, and if i'm going thru to thread to see how other people are doing, and if they agree with how I feel about the AFS, I have to dig through a bunch of junk.

Click on User CP, then settings & options, edit ignore list & put in the id you want to ignore.

That is cool, I had no idea what worked to ignore posts within threads......I thought it just ignored personal comms from the ignored party.........

I don't want a fight, and I'm not pointing at any one person, it takes 2 hands to clap, just tone it down, or stick in threads where it belongs. Every time I look at threads on here I have to dig thru a couple of pages of junk, and it's getting to the point where I hardly post, and I like posting here, when I have something to contribute, when I don't I keep my mouth shut, or if I want to post something stupid, I stick it in the non sense thread.

that's cool maybe I am on ignored lists but I could imagine it would be hard to ignore every member that interjects an off topic post.. i mean some might not deserve an entire ignore,but went off only on a thread or two


If people think of threads as face to face conversations maybe they would realize how rude it is to interrupt a conversation...I know its different,but in a way its the same

but it is tiring going though an update thread actually looking for the update

Is there a way to have a see-only list for a particular thread rather than anding pages and pages of ignores?

Lisa, I've just done a test & all of the posts by the person I have added to my ignore list have been hidden (so love that smiley )

So I no longer have to read any of Moogs posts ....

Being a relative newcomer, I was going to stay out of this thread but I have relatively strong feelings about this so I will speak up. Crash, I know where you are coming from and respect your opinion. On the other hand, some of us enjoy the banter and tongue in cheek. In fact since I found the GG forum, I rarely go anywhere else. This is home and the people are my friends. It's both informative and fun.

I know there are some solutions which will please most people without being complicated. Some one mentioned the most obvious. Imeo should have his own threads to which only he can post (read-only for the rest of us). To compliment this, we could have another stickied questions/comments thread that should be kept free of off-topic conversations. Obviously, any other threads that Imeo decides should have a sticky on them would be kept clean (no pun intended) The other threads are fair game (within reason, of course).

What keeps me here are the wonderful, helpful and, yes, funny people. There are other more annoying things that happen here like people harping on a topic that interests no one but the poster. Those are better taken to PMs. But we take the good with the not so good.

Imeo has enough on his plate without having to play referee. Why don't we all be grown-ups and arrive at solutions that are agreeable to the majority.

Exactly - so in important threads, we are all agreed that we are all going to try and be a little more self-moderating (and gently police ourselves when things get out of hand) - thereby leaving Imeo free to make more GG stuff.
Win-win situation - for everyone.
