I don't know, Stew. We never smoked in our house either. When I smoked I still hit my back porch where my cigs and lighter were waiting for me before my eyes were even fully open. Then I took my shower. May just be the routine that you are used to but, I had to have nicotine before even having coffee or a shower.
Probably, it also might have been the fact that I hated that I smoked, and even though I was clearly addicted to it, I didn't want to feel that I was addicted to it. So, I developed routines where I could do without it until I was ready.
Even now, I don't keep my vape in the bedroom (although my supplies are). Before I go to bed I put it on the kitchen counter, then I lay in bed and read for 30- 60 minutes (vape free) - don't think I've vaped in my bedroom at all, although my wife does, but she watches TV in bed, and I don't.
