Say I were to cut vents in the side of a tube mod is there any recommended material to cover them with ? This material would hopefully keep any errant debris or moisture out while still reliably blowing out in the event of a battery venting. So any suggestions ?

Slots or holes? You said cut so I think maybe slots. Silicone or rubber tube/cord pressed in would seal it and blowout in the event. Also you would have grips.
What about usual silicone compound? Put it to the cuts out, rub using a tissue or a foil and remove the residual from the surface.
I'm sorry but what "usual" silicone compound are you referring to ? I haven't really done much modding so I'm not sure what you mean.
As far as slots or holes I really haven't decided yet. You wouldn't have a link showing what kind of cord you're referring to ?
Beaverkt, these compounds are used to seal everything and you can buy them everywhere. Just ask about silicone sealant. I would prefer a clear one.
Tube sounds like it is a hollow tube, cord isn't quite right either. There are kids friendship bracelets now that are like fancy rubber bands made of silicone and that cut to the right length would be just about perfect. Kind of like these, but without the animal pattern bends:
Hadn't really thought about that, really. The silicone sealant sounds like a good idea, slimest, although it would allow some pressure to build up first. The silicone band idea is a bit better in that regard, as much less pressure is needed to open up the vents.
I don't know why, but I just had a good chuckle imagining a PV covered with a balloon filled with confetti... At least you could play it off and say, "Surprise!?"

That is an amusing mental image. Although it gives me an idea. Maybe a slip on cover made out of a thin rubber or latex. I'm picturing something akin to shrink wrap on a wire or a grip on a pen. Only it would have to be a thinner less durable material like a balloon or nitrile glove so it would easily give way in the event of a battery venting. Now I have to figure where to find something that would work for this and how to make sure it doesn't look like a condom on a sex toy.
