Hi DcMagic and all!

This is my first post so please bare with me if I don't do it quite right. I am brand new to vaping, got my 510 on the 19th so I know very little about equipment or vaping. I do however know some about the act of quiting smoking.

I have done quite a bit of reading on the forum and have not seen much discussed about the "habit" part of smoking, just the addiction part. The habit part is the where, when, how and why. Are you using your PV like you would an analog? Such as where you vape, when you vape and the situations you vape during. For example, if you only smoked outside and you vape inside and no longer go outside, then your body misses the habit of going outside. Your mind translates this to you want an analog. Or if you only smoked at certain times of the day and now you vape all day, then your body misses the habit of when you smoke and your mind again translates it to you want an analog. So my suggestion is to use your PV like you did your analogs. Vape at the same time, in the same places and for the same reasons, such as after a meal or while drinking or during stressful times. You can vape all day also if you want but, make a point to do it during the times and at the same location where you use to smoke analogs.

This is by no means a guaranteed solution, your milage may vary, but I do know you have to feed the habit as much as you have to feed the addiction.

Maybe this will help you and others that are having the same problem.

May peace and joy fill your life, today and everyday!

Nicotine isn't the only thing in tobacco that people smoke to get. I definitely know what you mean with that "head rush" that felt so good with real cigarettes.

To what Fire N Ice said: A doctor recently told me it probably wasn't the oxygen deprivation doing it. It would make sense, but... at least, when I started on a prescription MAOI, every cigarette felt like the first of the day and just bowled me over with lightheadedness -- like, too much of a head rush. So it might easily be just the (milder) tobacco MAOIs and other alkaloids that are working in synergy with the nicotine to deliver the tobacco rush. Not sure, not an expert myself.

But DcMagic, these would be my thoughts on what might help...

1/ The Chuck will hit hard. :D High voltage made all the difference to me -- so much vapor and throat hit and I do get a rush in the morning, even at lower nicotine levels. Not the same rush as tobacco cigs, but it's closer to it than a regular 510 gives by leaps and bounds.

2/ If you have a "sweet spot" for nic (as I think we all do), it might just be somewhere like 38-42mg, so you actually don't have to increase so much. You can add some unflavored nic juice, but to keep the flavor, buy both 36mg and 48-60mg juice in the same flavor and cut it to find the right strength. (MyFreedomSmokes and TastyVapor both sell good flavored super-high nic juice that should work for this kind of cutting.)

3/ Try snus or snuff (not dip...see the Other Alternatives to Smoking forum). It's got the alkaloids from pure tobacco with none of the really carcinogenic burn products. For some people it's the X-factor for their satisfaction.

Could it possibly be one of the 4,000+ other chemicals in the cig smoke that you're body is used to having?

There's alotta junk in cigs, and it takes some time for your system to adjust to it not being there, and our body was addicted and use to having more than just nic, but the thing is, all the other junk that's really bad for us, is what e-cigs lack, and more than likely that it what you're experiencing.

If you stick to it for long, it'll go away for good and the e-cig will satisfy the void. If you light up another cig instead, the cigarette wins!

it's been 6 months now for me, since I've smoked, and I continue to feel better & better the more time goes by, You'd be surprised how many things are in tobacco smoke
(If you ever wondered what chemicals are in cigs, here's a link to give you an idea).
Cigarette Ingredients - Chemicals in Cigarettes

(BTW, as far as upping your nic amounts goes, it's the same as with anything else, the more you do a thing, the more tolerance you have for a thing, the more you need to have it, to satisfy yourself, and the more of it you need the next time. more is never enough. It's a vicious cycle. You got to pick an amount and be firm about it.

Give it some time, your system may fight you, but if you truly want to quit, you gotta take the wheel.....

Red raven. Your spot on with what you say.

I don't think that I'm going to hit up 60mg juice. But I have to realise its never going to "feel" the same as a cig.

I think its a mixture of taste, carbon monoxide, and other chemicals in a normal cig that gives you that relaxed feeling. Or that boost of energy.

I don't take any medications. Or smoke or snort or do any other type of drugs. So I don't think that is the issue.

I'm going to have to really sit and try and vape and pay attention to how I feel. And maybe lay off it all together for as long as I can. And see if that might help. I'm pretty much in the dark for now. So well see what happens.
Oooh, well, thank you. I'm certainly glad if I was helpful somewhere in that novel I posted. LoL. :)

You were actually helpful to me as well. As I was replying it got me thinking about a problem I'm having myself, which I think has a lot to do with the taste/feel part of the habit. I knew my biggest issue was the physical motion thing, but didn't realize how much it affected me.

My plan when I got my PV was to alternate 0mg carts/juice with regular cigs & gradually get to less cigs, more PV. I've quit that way before with herbals. (I smoke ultra-lights, so it's not going to put my body into total shock to switch around).

But I'm having a hard time with it. I'll vape happily for a while, but will eventually want some nicotine. So, I grab an analog and... well it tastes weird after yummy juice, but it's also...comfortable. I just feel at home with an analog in hand, even if I'm hardly smoking it. And next time I want something to play with... even though my nicotine level is fine... I'll grab an analog again. Switching between the PV & analog just feels odd. Different taste, different weight (can't leave the PV sitting in my mouth), different type of inhale, etc.

So, I'm going to try getting some low-nic juice & sticking with just the PV. It just feels too odd switching back & forth. It's amazing such a seemingly small thing as a little difference in taste & feel would make that much difference, but it does! Apparently, consistancy is something that is an important factor for me.

So, thanks for helping me realize that I also need to really consider my own quirks & situation to figure out what will work best for me. :)

Good luck & glad you're taking time to think it through a bit. -- RR
