Hello,

I am getting back into RBAs and I found a roll of 34ga kanthal I bought back during my first try (didn't stick with it very long). 28ga micro coils are all the rage, and I also see 30ga and 32ga mentioned from time to time, but never 34ga and I don't even know why I bought it. I have probably 98feet of it left so I'd like to use it somehow. I have a KFL+ clone on a Provari. Any recommendations? I plan to use cotton for wicking material.

I've heard mention of twisting the wire to make it act like a lower gauge but not sure about it. Thanks in advance =D

I'm going to end up tossing my 34 gauge away I bought when I first started rebuilding. Like you I got bout 98 feet left and see no using it in my future. Its too thin to do anything with and IMO it will deform under the stress of the coil usage and make the effort a waste of time.

you could try a triple twist, but the wire might be too thin to twist

Braid it - 3 strands, each a twist of two strands. Flavor will blow simple Kanthal out of the water. Is a PITA, but w/e. Is what I do with my 36g... or something else like that.

The local vape store had some 28g kanthal for $1 per yard so I got some of that to play with on my KFL+ for now. I just cleaned out the old stash and dismantled my Vivi nova parts to rebuild it and put it away for a backup. So i made a 5 wrap coil on a 5/64 bit and it came out to 3.5 ohms, too high. I think Ill try twisting it and seeing how that works out. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I found some youtube vids on twisting and it seems pretty simple with a drill =)

Using 34g you'll end up in the 3 ohm range with singles a lot. Even if you do dual coils you'll still be in the 1.5 ohm area. That's why I use small wire like this for dual parallels, dual twisted, or higher ohm builds on a regulated device. I hope you tried that 3.5 ohm coil on a regulated device, it'll surprise you with how well it performs. There's a thread kicking around here about using high ohm coils in apv's. Oh, as an aside, once I discovered parallel coils I haven't touched twisted wire.

If you're meaning you made a 5 wrap micro coil on a 5/64" bit with 28ga you might want to recheck that, you should be right at or under 1 ohm with that build. even if you spaced the wraps out it shouldn't be much higher, maybe in the low 1 ohm range. No way it should be near 3.5 ohms. My normal build is a 8 wrap 28ga microcoil on a 5/64 bit and it comes out to 1.2 ohms on a kayfun

If you're talking about the 34ga that's understandable, just wanted to make sure you didn't misread the 28ga build.

yeah but he is using 34 gauge. that will make the ohm much higher then a 28 gauge coil.

I made a single twist and did 5/6 wraps on a 5/64 bit and got 2.0 ohms, just what I was looking for to rebuild my nova tank heads. It was super easy to twist it up. It kinked a little bit in one spot but I just cut after the kink. Now the Nova parts I had sitting, dirty, for the last year or so are all cleaned up, rebuilt, and packed up like its new from the factory. (and I'll probably never use it, but at least its there if I need it.) Now that "practice" is over I'll use some of my 28g to make a nice micro coil for my KFL+ =D

Yup, i have had a few come out to around 3.5 to 3.8 and it's a great vape.
