The Evic hands each owner the ability to Upgrade to a NEWER firmware... If we complain that something isn't correct, they WILL attempt to fix it. if your device does NOT have this option, then your device will indeed have the same problem or problems, that it shipped to your door with, forever. Point blank, PERIOD. Unless of course, you bought your device from a manufacturer that will fix whatever issue you are experiencing for you... REO's Mods, comes to mind. Provape (if you PAY them, lol) and the Buzzpro mods of our history's past... Ahh, the good ol' days!! ;) If only don would come-out with a DNA board REO, now then we'd have a mod worth dropping 200 bucks on (maybe... maybe...) lol. Until then, I am willing to put my trust in joyetech's mod, the Evic Mini, simply because, I trust Joye. I STILL VAPE my ORIGINAL EVIC V.1 (the once revolutionary wattage control mod with upgradable firmware option) and it is STILL a GREAT VAPE! I STILL use that mod on a weekly basis. Remember, everyone was buying the "Anyvape" replacement battery tubes for their EvicV.1, in-order to use 18500 batteries? I got my hands on one, (in gold, lol... the silvers/blacks were always out of stock!) and I use my Evic V.1 in 18500 mode all the damn time as a stealthy little variable wattage mod. It's accurate, and it doesn't SS-S-S-S-S-SS-S-SS like the VAMO. It's a good mod, and i suspected the Evic VTC Mini would be a good mod as well. I am VERY pleased with the performance of my Evic Mini and even MORE pleased with the aesthetics! It's a right awesoem looking mod, if ya ask me. I truly believe to this day, that the Evic VTC Mini, has the BEST-LOOKING-OLED-SCREEN out of EVERY TC mod on the market, to DATE! NO other screen comes close, in my humble opinion. It's a great little mod... And with the recent update, and the updates to come, it promises to remain 1 of, if-not the best, TC mod in it's class. YES, if you WANT your mod to hit 200 watts, go with a US-made DNA chip. YES, if you NEED your mod to have glass panels, then buy yourself a pricey little Snow-Wolf and flash it around like a little rocket-ship as you vape, on your couch, with the TV on, alone... (lol) and YES, if you just cannot justify spending UNDER 150 on a GOOD mod, because you just NEED the status of a wealthy, well-to-do vaper, when posting to the SHOW YOUR SET-UP thread... Go ahead and buy an over-priced mod, or a mod made by US hands paid US salaries, sure! DO IT!

If you are none of the above, and you want the BEST vape for the BEST value, and you trust Joye, and you understand the possibilities of the upgradable firmware, and you trust ME & my reviews, and you LIKE the way the Evic VTC Mini looks, and you enjoy vaping on a stealthy mod that just-so-happens to also be solid as a ROCK... Well then go for the Evic vtc Mini, damn-it! Stop procrastinating! & hell, if you're looking at the Kanger Subox Mini, and you don't mind a 50-60W limit, the Subox Mini has my seal of approval as-well. Both are fun little mods, however, i do feel that the Evic VTC Mini has the features and the durability and the company behind it, to be the MAIN PV in any household of vapers... Where-AS... The Subox Mini? Also can be your MAIN-MOD, it just doesn't have upgradable firmware... :( I think Kanger should STEP UP and release mods w/upgradable firmware to compete with Joyetech, why not, right? We, as vapers, must continue to nag our manufacturers to release mods w/the features we WANT/NEED!

ENJOY your new mod, be it a SNOW-KOOPOR, a KangWolf2000W, an EvictURg4nNephewVT2.3, a MoneySnatchari Radium, or whatever it is you LIKE!!! - & ENJOY Your Vaping Journey!! ;)

Another great choice for someone that KNOWS their vaping style, KNOWS that they will be perfectly happy AT (and below) 60 watts, and LIKES the looks, of this, the iStick60w.
This was the very 1st mod that I saw when I came back to vaping, that I liked the looks of. Before doing ANY research, I was thinking about getting this mod.
The iStick60w is an awesome looking mod, with it's MIDDLE-MOUNT 510-Connection? Who wouldn't like that option in their vape collection? Looks gr8 w/any 22mm tank!
If you KNOW that you can and WILL get a great vape, UNDER 60w, well then, you're going to like this mod, AND it's price-tag. (ALL iStick Price-Tags, really...) lol.
In-fact, if it weren't for the fact that the Subox came with a Subtank MIni (a tank I desperately wanted to try) I might have the iStick60 rather than the Evic & Subox Mini Kits.

There is currently an ENDLESS NUMBER of mods on the market that would satisfy MOST vapers. There are a handful of US sites that carry a multitude of great mods, & originals, and then, if you venture-off into the land of drop-ship china sites, your options grow substantially. It seems like I am finding NEW regulated mods every-single-day. Just yesterday, I was perusing the ECF forums, when I came in contact with a thread touting the great size of a pocket-mod, w a 510 tank connection recessed into the body, making it the smallest mod w/tank i'd ever seen. It was over 200usd, however, with just a quick google search, i was able to find pre-orders and in-stock product pages, on chinese websites. So, NOW is the age of CHOICE as-far as regulated-mods go. (Yesterday, was the day of choice, when it came to MECHANICAL MODS) TODAY we have GREAT choice in regulation!! in-fact... This is a welcome change of pace, from the days of myself and others, trying to find the ELUSIVE... PROVARI KILLER... The Provari Killer: A mod with the build quality, & vape quality, to rival my Provari Mini. (---But, with a 'MINI' price tag, as-in, under $100) Back then, I found the Evic, I found the Zmax, I found many a mod, but not many ever did come close to killing the provari. i love my evic to this day, but it is no military TANK, like the provari body is. & u cannot send it in for repair, either, can you? MMMnope!

I challenge you to find a mod that gives you better security in ownership, than a mod with upgradable firmware... Simple as that. YES, you have companies like Provape, where you are able to send your mod in for upgrade (actually, does the Radius integrate the upgrade at home feature?) but is that not a hassle? YES, your DNA mods may be pricey, they may even make u feel like a "BOSS" but do they allow you to download a crappy firmware update driver, so that you can flip your screen, if you are LEFT... handed!?!?!? I didn't THINK so...

RX200 is possibly the best bang for the buck for high power devices if your ok with the size. My son has the IPVD2 and loves it, if your wanting a smaller form factor on a budget and don't need the extra power or buck down it might meet your needs. IMO stay away from the DNA devices that some suggest, (not for a beginner) a lot of failures and they don't seem to be very reliable or accurate monitoring the cell or pack voltages and I've seen several charging outside of the stated specifications.

My Evic VTC Mini just arrived, I'm still at work so I can't play with it yet but I will keep you posted as to how it turns out.

Vlad1, how more or less precise is the RX200 VS the DNA version? Is Wismek also providing upgrade ability with the RX?

I've not seen any objective measurements of the two side by side, reports I've read indicate no real difference in the vaping experience with same builds and similar power settings. And yes it's firmware upgradeable.

As a mod, they are probably functionally the same. The DNA has a plus and a minus. The plus is the back end escribe software where you can really tweak/customize your vape and use non-traditional wire types. The minus is that it is a very new, very complex chip and has a higher failure rate (though Evolv is easy to work with for replacements). Unrelated to the direct comparison is the Evolv spec 510 which is amazing...beyond anything else out there...c-clip retention, wave spring for high pressure, gold plated pin.

If you check out this video (about 37 minutes in) you'll see that they are about equally accurate.

I have a very bad feeling that my carebean location is working against me. I live somewhere where "room temperature" is 79f. It's reading coils at .15 above the advertised coil read... Exp. Tron TI .4 reading it at .56 Kanger's NI .15 reading .28

Do I put my atties in the fridge or what?

I don't think the temperature is the problem. It can get as hot as 95 here in the summer (southern Sweden, yeah no one believes that) and I've never had a problem with tc resistance (plenty of problems with tanks leaking). And this summer I played at a festival in Italy where it certainly was around 105 or so. You probably have either a faulty mod or connection issues.

My three top choices would be the Evic Mini and iStick TC40 or TC60.

The Evic recently had a user programmable TCR settings added which pushes it to the top of any inexpensive TC mod list. While the iSticks are limited to Ni and Ti wires, (from personal experience) the TC40 works fine with ether outfitted in a STM. The center pin of the STM might be problematic.

While I have some much more expensive mods, the Evic mini is now on my 'get next' list. Small, decent screen and user adjustable TCR.
