I was a pipe smoker 1st (not very macho) mostly it was trying to keep it lit. I moved to Cigars and smoked (20 yrs) on and off. The last 5 I was inhaling them but I was on and off trying to quit. I'd smoke little ones in one sitting and big ones in 3. I was developing a smokers cough and it was hell on my smile. Ticked off my dentist big time.
Since moving to vapor I have not coughed much (getting better) still taking lots of Vit C and E. I do sneeze more now may be unrelated. But now I don't get the burn and I get the effect I want more consistently. I also do not smell of Cigars (bad for social occasions) and I haven't been hassled about using the vapor like I use to get with a cigar. I would get hassled sometimes even when I was in a smoking bar etc. In a club I'm a member of (non smoking) they don't mind me vaping. But we go to a special corner. So far I think I can live with this much better. Could probably taper off but really don't want to yet. :p
Just curious about what other thought.

I started by stealing my Dad's Kools when I was around 12 or so. More than 30 years ago. I eventually switched to RYO to save money and then then when they upped the tax on them I got ticked off and found vaping. It's been over three years since I had a smoke. I do miss it sometimes, but I don't miss the price and the smell and the smokers cough. It's also nice to have gotten some of my taste buds back.

I smoked with coffee when I got up, outside of course, and on the way to work. At work 3-4, and again on the way home, and off and on all evening. I have smoked off and on for 34 years...Marlboro red. I didn't smoke when I was pregnant twice, and had no problem doing that. I just knew I wasn't going to smoke. I had a hard time quitting for my own health. In late 2010 I had major surgery, and quit before that. I didn't quite make it 10 months, and decided to have just one smoke. Then I bought one pack, and another, and then back to cartons. I did use ecigs to stop in 2010, and even brought disposables in the hospital with me. I didn't show them off, or ask if it was allowed...I just used them. The ones I used at home and work were the cigarette sized ones that can be recharged. This time around I am using all different kinds of devices to keep my interest. I made my first ejuice this weekend, and today is three months for me.

PAD+ for 20 years, would smoke whatever was at hand, including rolled butts in the worst of times (not my proudest of memories...). 2 months and change ago I was coughing "butter" up regularly (not just morning coughs, but through the day/night), couldn't hit a flight of stairs without feeling winded, regular intestinal distress, and generally just feeling like a 20 year PAD smoker is expected to feel. Now it's polar opposite and my entire lifestyle is beginning to shift. I (usually) feel great, like there's something for me to bother being healthy about. Dominoes that started when I smoked my last.

One thing I remember is when I drank I smoked. I quit drinking but could not leave the cigars for long. One other benefit I see is that it will cost me a lot less even when I smoked the cheap cigars it still added up because I went through them like cigarettes. I can relate to the coughing up butter. In the last 5 years ago I had a real bad injury to my mouth/face. Put a crimp in my smoking because I could not puff on the cigar so I inhaled. Man with the mouth and nasal injury I would cough up a lot of stuff.
People don't understand addiction. What ever it is.
I know a bunch of guys that quit drinking but could not put down the tobacco. My brother did he Smoked and dipped sometimes at the same time. He quit but now he is over 300 lbs. The weight is probably going to kill him quicker than the smoking.
I sure hope they don't try to tax this out of existence or outright ban it.

I was a 4 PAD smoker for 15 years and a little less than that the 13 years prior...but not by much. I didn't smoke while I was pregnant....never had morning sickness but smoking made me gag so I just didn't. Had a lady come in the day after my daughter was born who smoked..bummed one and well, back to it I went.

A co-worker over 2 years ago had a Joye 510 and got me started. I'm ever so grateful that he did. Now I spend more money on vaping hardware than I did on smoking but I don't care. It's keeping me healthier than when I smoked so the money doesn't matter to me.

I was a pad smoker for 30 years - except for 3 separate occasions when I quit for a year each. I smoked outside and in my car only. In 2009 I tried e cigs for the first time. I stuck with it for about months. my equipment and the availability of juice etc were no so good and so I got frustrated and quit e cigs.
2 years ago I moved in with my boyfriend and was up to 1 1/2 packs during the week and 2 on the weekends. he smokes so we were smoking in the house. about 6 months ago I made a new "no smoking in the house" rule. he fell for it (poor guy) and we both cut down some.
about a month ago I decided to give e cigs one more shot.
It worked very well and within a couple of weeks I was down to 1 cig a day. Then I got sick and vaping wsnt meshing with my particular crud. I was back to 10 a day in the blink of an eye.
still - Im not giving up on vaping. Im vaping like mad when I want a smoke and just keeping my eye on the prize. even at 10 a day I am much happier and can see some health benefits from the 40 I was smoking before.
my bf is benefiting too. He got on the band wagon (my only convert) and cut back for 3 pad to 1.
we are still new to the whole thing and we wont give up.
between the two of us - if we just get off the smokes entirely we would save something like 6,000 per year. thats enough to fund some of our retirement dreams. who would give up on that?
