Hello,
need help understanding which substances makes the coil burnt. I mean what makes this burnt, crust, black ash on the coils. I am custard all over fan. Yes these are the worst when it comes to coil life. But three days? Would be cool if i could extend to a week at least.

Just sweetener like Etylmatol or Sucralose?
Smootherner?

Plan is to find liquids which save my coils a bit longer than 3 days.
thanks

YES - custards are coil killer. For sure. BUT there are different custards. Some kill a coil faster others not.
And exactly here is the point is would like to understand.

Ok, rewick, recoil (like my AR) is easier but with Pods you just throw to many away.

Just spoke with a Vape Shop Guy today and he told me that the custard mixtures can vary in sweetener and used flavours. Now i run an Italian Custard (yes they not just make pizza) and will check if this kills my coil not so fast than a US custard.

So there are "ingredients" which kill the coil faster. And if i would know them i could check if possible on the flavours not to mix to many of them into the receipt.

TPA does a really good job and state all of the chemical substances on their website.
https://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/specsheetlist.aspx

For Example this is their milk flavour
COMPONENT CAS Type Range Description
Propylene Glycol 57-55-6 diol > 90% no taste
Ethyl Vanillin 121-32-4 aldehyde < 6% sweet, creamy, vanilla, smooth and caramellic
Gamma Nonalactone 104-61-0 lactone < 5% coconut, creamy, waxy with fatty milky notes
Water 7732-18-5 n/a >= 1% and < 3%
Butanoic acid 107-92-6 acid <0.5% Acidic sour, cheesy, dairy, creamy with a fruity nuance
Sulfurol 137-00-8 -ol group <1% meaty, brothy, roasted, metallic and nutty
Undecalactone <gamma-> 104-67-6 lactone <1% fatty, coconut, creamy, vanilla, nutty, macadamia and peach
Acetoin 513-86-0 n/a < 0.5% sweet buttery creamy dairy milky fatty
Acetyl Propionyl 600-14-6 n/a < 0.5% toasted, buttery and caramellic with marshmallow and molasses nuances

So if Ethyl Vanillin would be one of the coil killer element i could check if there would be others. Acetyl Propionyl.. gosh.. this words are pretty ugly to type.

Hope you can follow me...

Coil gunk comes from the carmalized sugars and sweetners in the e-liquid. The sugars and sweetners don't vaporize cleanly, so the remains stay on the coil and eventually burn.

So if using a drop in coil or pod, you have to replace then more frequently. If using a rebuildable coil, you could remove the old wick and dry burn (pulsing the coil to burn away the crud) the coil, rinse the coil under running water, and then rewick.

Being honest I think you have had the best answers already - @Batitude has covered what can cause the problem and offered the answer to how it can best be adressed/ fixed.

Menthol has been mentioned - I can get 6+ weeks out of a drop in coil using a clear menthol juice; this compares with when I last used Space Jam's rather lovely "Eclipse" which featured sweetener and ( possibly) mild tobacco, nut and fruit favouring - with the same attie settings coils etc by Day 6 the coil was weak and by Day 7 it had to be replaced.

If you really really like Custards and want to stick with them it looks like getting through coils is just the price you have to pay.

Is the game worth the candle? Well I like good whisky - do I think it is worth paying the premium for a Director's Blend? Yes I do! That's my opinion - yours may differ!

What kind of coil are you using? I get longer life from my falcon mesh than any ive used. Im vaping a DIY lemon cheesecake and on my third week with the falcon m2 mesh. When i DIY, i go a little heavier with my flavorings than most other folks. This recipe would gunk up my rebuildables in about 2 weeks. I have a replacement ready for the falcon but im wanting to see just how long i can go. You might want to try this tank yourself. Ive found the m2 is the better coil head of the ones they make for this tank.

Maybe try something different for the pods. Fruit or mint. Menthol fruits are popular. Or a straight vanilla cream even.
the best liquid I ever tried. Brand name - the naked flavor brain freeze. And all naked flavors are all good. The menthol ones all have the white drip tips on them. All of them are the best brain freeze is fruit with menthol
