Hi all, I'll give a little bit of background info first
I'm still quite new to vaping and recently bought an eleaf pico 75w which came with a mello 3 mini tank(2ml). The 2 coils it came with were both sub ohm .3 and .5 (i believe)
Basically to cut a long story short sub ohm 'direct to lung' was the wrong style of vape for me and after some research I bought a box of 5 'Triton 1.8 Ohm coils which fit perfectly in my mello 3 tank and allowed me to 'mouth to lung' vape due to the tighter more restricted air flow on the coils :)
The trouble is I find the mello 3 mini tank is letting in to much air even on its most restricted air setting, basically fully closed.

So i'm going to order a 'Digiflavor siren 2' as it seems to be one of the best rebuildable tanks out at the moment with very good reviews online.
My question is what coil should I buy to give me a MTL vape between 10-20Watts?
Im quite happy with a 50/50 mix of juice with between 6-9mg of nicotine, also I don't really like a hot vape but good flavour is always nice.

Thanks

It's really going to be more about airflow than coil. The more restrictive the tank will go, generally the better for MTL and flavor but there are no hard and fast rules. The Nautilus tank for example is really great for MTL but not enough airflow for lung (to me at least), it goes from trying to breathe through a coffee stirrer to a small straw, where as my Atlantis V2 is like using a 1" pipe, lol.

I'd say ohm wise probably .9 to 1.5 at 10-20 watts, might could go higher, been a long time since I've used above 1 ohm. Just make sure the tank will close off enough to your liking, that's the biggest thing. I know many who MTL with a .6 coil and I've tried it, not hot at all. Actually I have one of the AIO pens and it is just barely open enough to lung hit but will easily do MTL, it comes with .6 coils.

Thanks for the advice guys, The 'Digiflavour Siren 2' tank has very restrictive airflow setting on its smallest air-hole So I guess i need to buy some Kanthal wire that will be able to make a coil of about a 0.6 to 1ohm
Would this do the trick? (link below) Kanthal A1 28g
Original Youde Kanthal A1 Wire 10m 30 Feet E-cigarette Coils Wire 28G 0.32MM-$1.55 Online Shopping| GearBest.com

That'd work, start with either 26 or 28 gauge, if you know the coil diameter you are using, plug it into a vape calculator and see the wrap amounts. The bigger the wire and more wraps, can take longer to ramp/heat up and too few wraps can get hotter faster.

Second thought if it were me, buy 28 and 26, then you can play with both gauges to see what you like. A local shop should sell you a foot for a couple of bucks, then you don't have to buy a whole roll.

Hey what is the flavour like vaping at 8watts?
I like the idea of 1.6 ohms coil and low wattage as my juice and battery should last longer
Good enough for me. I vape mostly for the nic. That's why I diy at 60/40 for flavor.

A battery will last me almost 2 days in my pico.

I also vape about 3 mL a day.

I vape 26 nichrome 2.5mm 6 wrap around 16w/3v 0.6ohm or 28 nichrome 8 wraps. Usually which ever fills the air intake the best without having massive spacing. All my mods fire below 3.7v... mods without step down are from like 3 years ago. The Pico will work but make sure you buy the 22mm version Siren 2, 24mm won't fit.

I pretty much use exclusively 26 or 28 gauge wire SS, as it can be used in wattage or temperature. At 28 g wire, SS comes in right around 1.0 at 9 or 10 winds (depending if spaced or contact).

While you are waiting, the Siren V2 comes with two 1.0 coils, and they are a very nice vape on my steampunk mod (which tends to be power happy) at around 14 watts. You can build higher certainly, but the airflow settings are also going to matter as far as your experience. I actually prefer the siren at a more airy setting, but it does tend to drink juice that way.

Kanthal is fine if you aren't interested in temp mode, I'd use steam-engine.org to calculate out your various options to help you decide what wire to get (you can play around with the settings, and see which wire is going to "do the trick" for you as it were, without being so bulky that ramp up time is slow. Remember diameter of the coil, length of legs and etc. will all play a role as well.

    Good luck,

    Anna

26g to 30g kantal/ss anywhere from 7-9 wraps on low wattage should private the best flavor and satisfying throat hit.

As Stols said use Steam Engine Steam Engine | free vaping calculators. Read the blog, watch the tutorial videos and read the info on the page you are going to use. It is really very easy to use and understand and one of the very best tools for a new and experienced vaper alike.
It will allow you to build coils to your exact ohms, build a variety of types of coils and dial in the temp of your vape etc. The type of wire(s) you like depends on your personal tastes.
Give it a try and good luck
