Me too Nanny! This one is my heart and soul! I'll give away his mama but he has to stay!! Love being a grandma!!!
Yes, they are your heart walking outside your body.

My son was such a stinker, always into things, getting injured, dirty, and nonstop activity. He wore me out a LOT of the time - and I always told him I would get my payback if he grew up and one day had TWINS just like him. I'll be darned if he didn't do it! Fortunately they are identical GIRLS, I doubt I would have made it through a set of boys. We watch the girls a few days a week and they definitely keep us hopping, but I would not miss a minute for the world. It's one of the greatest rewards a parent can receive. We spoil ours ROTTEN - cuz we can. And candy is our little secret - it's the LAW, grandparents MUST have candy.

Yes ma'am!! He had candy before he fell asleep! The sweet pea in the picture actually lives with me. It was the only way for my daughter to go to school and work. I watch him 2 days a week so he doesn't have to go to a babysitter only for a couple of hours. That will change after Thanksgiving when I change shifts though. :( I'm glad I'm changing shifts because it gives me more time with my son but sad at the same time because I'll see Noah less. :(

Reminds me of my Grandparents, my Memaw always had Brach's Butterscotch hard candies and my Pappa always had these peanut butter bar things don't even know if they had a name but man they were so good. I loved to go visit them so much when I was little. :)

Would do anything to have a candy break with them again.

Edit: Haha found 'em these things - http://www.yummies.com/browse.cfm/atkinson-peanut-bar-12-ounce-bag/4,193.html

DELICIOUS!

Sounds like everyone has some wonderful plans! For me, I don't have the #1 nugget this year for Thanksgiving so I am just staying home, relaxing. Katy invited me to her traditional Thanksgiving gig, which I have attended the last two years, and enjoyed, but I'm really looking forward to falling asleep while I am watching football. I may convince Katy to bring me some leftovers, hehe... As for da jooooose... I have a bottle of ACB have been sitting on for a long time

dinner is at the clubhouse of the condo community my brother in law's new wife used to live in. it'll be a mix of her family and ours- 40 people, yikes! on the menu- roasted turkey, deep fried turkey, ham, rolls, stuffing, salad, funeral potatoes, deviled eggs, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, relish tray, chips with salsa and spinach dip, cookies and 4 pies, soda, wine, and the fixings for bloody marys (i will fight anyone who tries to get at my bloody marys!) i'm psyched!

i'll be bringing two tanks with me- probably gcd in one and wakonda in the other.

Wow. I don't know what funeral potatoes are, but all this foods talk is making me drool. I'm a sucker for deviled eggs. Deep fried turkey. Mmm. Everything sounds good. Might have a problem however with 40 people and only 4 pies.

Will be stuffing myself at a local restaurant....All-you-can-eat Thanksgiving buffet.....wife and 2 family friends will be on hand to carry me out!!!
When I was a young kid our family got together at my grandparent's farm.....the kids ate at one table, the grownups at the "Big Table" - the one with all the FOOD on it!;)
With everybody grown up and moved away, it's no longer practical to try to gather this way.....so the buffet makes more sense....
Did I also mention......NO DISHES TO WASH! GOOD NEWS!!:D
Oh....yeah.....the BAD news....NO LEFTOVERS!!!:(
Our plans are contingent on the weather....we're now looking at a coastal storm coming in late Wednesday that COULD mess with our plans.....we'll see.....!!
Happy (vaping) Trails!

Buffet sounds good! ...no leftovers? ...don't they do 'takeaway'
I've been seeing some of the US bad weather on CBS & ABC here, and it looks dreadful! Hope it stays fine enough for all of you :)

I love those! I am not allowed to have them in my house or I'd be toothless and wearing them on my ....

Everyones plans sound so nice! I'm just glad to have my little family together even though it isn't the Thanksgiving I would hope for it is wonderful regardless. Pen, your plans sound amazing. I would love that! If we had something like that here I would totally do that! Can you imagine the arguments and kidding around those ladies have? So much fun for them to have and feel like they are still able to have "family" around them. That is a special kind of wonderful right there!

We will be trying to avoid things and shaking it up a bit? We never know what the holidays will bring as far as emotions....the first year after my nephew passed we all left the state during the holidays...last year my daughter had us over for the first time, this year I will be spending the day with my sister doing whatever she wants to do....she only had the one child, even at 22, yes he was a child....Friday night we may have some turkey at her house...but we're trying to do everything non-traditional....not sure if this will ever go back to the old normal. Happy Thanksgiving everyone :)

Oh, it is wonderful. A few years ago I noticed an elderly neighbor had a yard needing tended to. I started mowing her lawn and later other neighbors started helping. When Memorial Day came I took her to the cemetery where her husband and son (both veterans) were resting. It just grew from there to Thanksgiving with other widowers she knew. One of the ladies is a "Betty White" and the men just love to get her going. We have a lot of fun!
