Im looking at a square foot of #400 mesh for $11. seems like a good deal. ive ony priced it against one other vendor, themeshcompany, because thats the only other one i knw of. but theyre not USD and the conversion plus shipping would probably be the same or more. anyone have a input on deals out there on mesh? as you can glean, im still sorta new.
i finally got my Vulcan DID clone up and running!
6 (or 7?) wraps of Kanthal A-1 32AWG. it was 2.0/1.9 at the start, now its leveled off in the 1.7/1.8 range and its staying put. woohoo! this was my biggest problem (ohms all over the place). but thanks to you guys im up and running. 
i snugged everyhtign up first by taking it all apart, which i hadnt done off the bat. my wire wrapping technique was also off. i was wrapping the wire several times around the nut, tryign to make it snug, but it actually was doing the opposite.
so now im preparing for my next wick, whenever that may be. im not sure how i'll tell its time for a new wick, but somehtings telling me i'll just know.
a few other things:
ive noticed that im gettign different taste from different wire. at first i thought i wasnt a kenthal fan. so i ordered some nichrome. while i was waitign for my nichrome, i ended up gettign some A-1 kanthal with my DUD. this made me realize that my original kenthal was not A-1. i like the A-1. the regular kanthal tastes metallicy to me. i wonder how the nichrome will taste...
also- what is the difference between a genesis atomizer and a DID? my vulcan is advertised as a DID clone, yet its also referred to as a genesis style atomizer. is the genesis atomizer the one that started it all, and attys like the DID popped up in their likeness, resulting in clones of the pop ups? maybe im way off lol..
