Hi there, I just started today! Liking it so far, but I'm seeing already that I could easily spend all day vaping non-stop. I am not entirely satisfied with brief periods of vaping, as I was with smoking cigarettes.

I know that this could be for a number of reasons (including vaping requiring longer time to enter the bloodstream - 30 seconds vs. 8 for cigarettes, and nicotine concentration in the liquid, apparatus, etc.). But I was wondering if anyone would mind giving me advice on how to inhale the vapour, using what I've got at the moment so as to maximize satisfaction and spend less time vaping.

I've got a Mini Nautilus Aspire, set at the largest opening, and an iStick, set at 11.5 watts. The liquid I currently have is 12 mg.

Do I draw for 3-5 seconds, hold it in my mouth (puff out cheeks?) for another 3 to 7, and then inhale into the lungs? Hold it in the mouth/cheeks for longer? How long should I hold the vapour in my lungs?

(Also, how dangerous is it to vape all day? And what is an estimate of a good number of total pulls or sessions to aim for, in a day? How long should each session last, or how many pulls per session is advisable with 12 mg?)

Thank you in advance!

Hi espressowithsugar and welcome to the ECF!

I vape from the time I wake up till the time I go to bed. Non-stop. It's just me. I like it. Sometimes I'll pause to breathe but besides that... :)

The only thing I'd say is drink water and more water. I have never gotten vapor tongue, headaches, or stomach cramps. And I think, I could be wrong, but that could be because I took up the habit of drinking tons and tons of water...something I never did as a smoker so thats just another plus!

You are fine vaping around electronics. In fact you are going to vape non-stop while refreshing these forums for the ECF will become your second addiction.

"Do I draw for 3-5 seconds, hold it in my mouth (puff out cheeks?) for another 3 to 7, and then inhale into the lungs? Hold it in the mouth/cheeks for longer? How long should I hold the vapour in my lungs?"

Do whatever you want and you find satisfying. I do a small pull blow it out. Take another pull blow it through my nose and then take my big pull straight into my lungs. Everyone does it differently. Find what works for you and enjoy.

If you find yourself craving a cig or vaping constantly, you might want to think about upping your
nic to the next level. But just coming off of cigarettes it's not unusual to chain vape. If you
find yourself experiencing headache, rapid heartbeat, jittery, other issues, you need to set
down the e-cig and not vape for awhile. I never get symptoms when I over do it on nic, except
insomnia. I pull vapor into my mouth, I don't puff out cheeks or anything, but hold it in my mouth
for a few seconds before inhaling. The longer you hold it in your lungs, the less vapor
comes out your mouth. To get the maximum benefits from the nic, try exhaling through your
nose, or just exhaling slowly.

Interesting! Thanks so much for your thoughts. That sounds like a neat technique :)

This is very helpful advice, thank you! I'll try going up to 18 mg, in that case. Hate to waste what I've got, though :/

On low powered systems usually there's a narrow airhole, and you inhale to the mouth before inhaling to the lungs.

On higher powered systems with big airflow, you can do direct to lung inhales, but it also helps to already have enough experience before doing lung hits; lung hit on a dry wick is............ ack; with mouth-to-lung you get a warning first.

Last (unrelated) question - how bad is it to vape around electronics (computer, music recording equipment, etc)?

I'd try to keep the vapor away from the most delicate microphones if I were you. Other than that, as long as you don't blow the vapor directly onto your equipment I think it should be fine.

There's great advice already in this thread so I think you should have a good start on inhaling techniques. Most important, is do what's comfortable for you and if you want to escalate your inhaling, make purposefully slow progress until you get to the point you enjoy most.

This is a great info thread from one of the resident ECF meisters, rolygate.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...9-inhalation-technique-ecig-vs-cigarette.html

You know you've been vaping too much when you have no money for food or rent and the guys that work at your local VapeShop are driving Bugatti's, otherwise let your body be your guide. I know that that is no answer but there are plenty of factors that go into your NIC absorption as well as how much NIC does your body "want" to satisfy your cravings. Vape slower and hold the toot longer to get more NIC out...

I vape from the minute I get out of bed, constantly throughout the day and right up until I brush my teeth before going to bed. Also, I know it's already been said but drink water, or juice or whatever (Pina Coladas maybe?) to stay hydrated. The PG may cause some dry, scratchiness in your throat and dehydrates your body - The more your vape, the more you drink.

I vape all day around very sophisticated electronics and I have yet to find any vape-related wonkiness. I think as long as your not "shotguning" vape directly into your electronics your gear will be fine.

Welcome and I'll see you around the threads.

Wow! What a great, responsive community :) Thanks so much for your thoughts, everyone - all are a help!

Exhaling more slowly and holding it in the mouth for a bit longer is making a difference :) Mixing 18 mg with 12 mg is worth doing, as well. Attending to the wattage/nicotine concentration ratio makes total sense.

I'd rather not vape all day (although it does feel nice!) because there's some stigma around it where I am, unfortunately, and I'd like to be able to go at least 30-60 minutes without having to pull. I have been able to do that, using the techniques suggested, so, it's a win :)

Glad to hear my stuff will be ok. It has to be better off than it was with the tar from my cigarettes.

(I'm so happy that my hair and apartment and clothes will be smelling like vanilla instead of disgusting cigarettes. It feels better in here already, and I look forward to positive changes in my body, as well!)

Thanks again!

Glad you're finding your way. Trust the process. Trust your body and trust the threads. These folks are great.

I'm curious, what stigma are you seeing?
*not trying to derail the thread. Maybe start another thread about this stigma...?

Also, I feel a tiny bit less-manly now that my house smells like Cantaloupe-Cream rather than stale cigarettes and tar. :)
