Japanese organic cotton pads (Labo being my personal favorite then Koh Gen Do) are what i prefer above all else. Rayon was great but i had a throat/sinus reaction to it after 2 weeks on it with all my devices. (Dont take that as it will screw up your throat too or it's not safe. Just personal experience)

I actually went back to cotton in two kayfuns this evening. Trying to recreate two holy grail builds with rayon proved too frustrating. Rayon works great in RDAs and BCs. Dry hits are gruesome though and come without warning. Usually leads to over dripping. One bad hit in a kayfun ruins the taste of a whole tank. The juice can be saved but its back to square one wickwise. Cotton is working great in both units at 15 watts. I never got a dry hit in a Kayfun with cotton before, it just quits wicking sooner. I must source some better cotton. I will look up Labo. Koh Gen Do has been in short supply and a bit elusive.

I think the right cotton pads are the best wicking material. Understand if you don't get the right brand it will be compressed to paper towel consistency, these won't work at all. Ken Gushi isn't the only game in town either but its the safest bet, there are however some brands that to me seem exactly the same.

rayon balls from Delasco arrived today. paid $3.50 + $4 shipping 200 balls. i am using 26ga gplat 1/8" id coil .6 ohm in a kayfun lite plus. i pulled as much rayon as would fit the coil. a good bit more than when i use cotton. started with 10 watts to get things wicking and there is great flavor and a lot of popping and cracking going on. at 28 watts the juice is flowing and keeping up with the power. cotton would have singed at 18 watts already and forced distasteful retreat. rayon just keeps delivering incredible flavor and screams bring it on. 30 watts the mod is applying 4.2V regulated. simply incredible, i am converted. i am convinced rayon is a major improvement compared to any cotton. i reduced the power to 15 watts because i am not used to inhaling that much humidity at once and nic wouldl have to be lower. nice to have the ability to catch a stronger hit when i need it. i get busy at work and cuts into my vape time. now when i take a break, i can jack up the power and catch up quick. my search for the best wick is over.

Score!

It is the bomb! Rayon is classified by government agencies as pure cellulose. I also slightly prefer the delasos rayon balls over the Sally's. The fiber weight is a little heavier. Slightly more course than Sally's.

And seriously it's dirt cheap, less than a bottle of regular priced juice. (12.00)

Phil's test only tested absorption. Rayon transports to a hot coil better.

Dry hits on rayon are coil dry hits not rayon burning. It's very hard to burn wet rayon. Coil dry hits are nasty, you likely needed more density and you got a coil hit. Using the right amount of rayon makes it hard to ever get a dry hit because the warning is more noticeable.

It's rayon all the way for me, I've tried organic cotton, Japanese cotton, cotton straight from the field, silica, even some fluval I had left over from my old carto days and to me, rayon impacts flavor the least and wicks up juice the best. It doesn't work as well on the thin juices, but thicker juices are the kick. I typically go either 70/30 vg to pg or straight vg and rayon hasn't failed me yet.
