What's the difference between PG & VG? Is one better?

Hi,

I just found the forum last night so I'm really new to this. I am thinking about buying the Eroll. Now to juice...I look at websites that allow you to pick the base liquid 100%PG or VG or 50/50 etc...

Does it matter? What's your preference & why?

VG will generally give more vapor with less throat hit and flavor.

PG does the opposite, less vapor, more flavor & throat hit.

When puffing pure VG I tend to get a heavy chest kind of feeling. Not present with PG for me. Everybody is different though, so YMMV

Generally stick to 50-70PG, so 30-50VG.

Once my Wizard Labs order shows up today I think I'm going to play around with ratios a bit more though.

Quick difference

PG - pros - thinner, less sweet, better throat hit, brings out flavors - cons - some people allergic, sore throats, less vapor

VG - pros - more vapor, thicker, sweeter - cons - some allergic, heavy feeling in lungs for some, can be slimey in nostrils, clogs attys if not thinned.

It's a preference and tolerance thing. I like 70pg/30vg mixes, but anything from 50/50 to 80pg/20vg is all right by me. 100% pg has almost no vapor and 100% vg makes me wheeze and kills my attys too fast.

I initially was using a 20/80 pg/vg mix but since I have learned more about it I switched to 50/50. I am pretty happy with my juice and vaping quality right now. Some people are allergic to PG but I think that may be somewhat rare...

I'm new and have only vaped VG. I chose it because I didn't want the majority of my inhale to be petroleum based. The lack of throat hit with VG is just an added bonus (as I'm not the biggest fan).

I personally don't care about the amount of vapor, I'm more interested in the throat hit. That's what helped me put the analogs down because the throat hit is similar. If I had tried an e-cig with VG for the first time I probably wouldn't have switched. I'd be fine with no vapor as long as I can feel it when I inhale.

Also, when trying to get e-cigs acceptable in public places I believe the less vapor there is the better off we are. Even though the vapor is safe, even in large amounts, it's viewed as being intrusive by non-smokers/vapers.

I thought I wanted throat hit, but best I can tell what I want is "lung hit" with as little TH as possible. So far I get it with mint and it's exactly what I want in a vape.

I didnt have that many options due to limited availability. The vendor here in India did not mention that. Is there a way to find out the mix without contacting the vendor? Or do I have to contact him and get the details?

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks Buy, say, 10mls of a flavour you like (with the same mgs of nicotine) in each of 70/30, 50/50, and 30/70 PG/VG and try them out. You have to experiment to find what you like best

I use 100% VG... Three reasons:

1. I have a sensitivity to PG and the 80p/20v I started with gave me headaches.

2. I am not a fan of a harsh throat hit... since I mainly drip, this is definitely a huge issue with PG

3. I LOVE big glorious clouds of vapor! Since I'm allowed to vape in the office, The bigger the cloud the better!

No all vendors do not, at least not conspicuously... they should all tell you though if you ask.

YMMV, obviously everyone is different... but for me, I drip(which is super economical on juice consumption) and go through about 1.5ml a day... I used to burn more using Stardust clearomizers, maybe 2.5 ml/day

So much to learn! I have no idea what it means to "drip" so I guess that's out for this newbie! I'm hoping this is just something to use as a crutch to give up the real things but who knows If I like it & I can use non- nicotine juice why quit!

It's definitely a steep learning curve to begin with. I've spent countless hours on this and other forums in the last couple of months, and even more watching guys like PBusardo on YouTube. You'll get there. Don't be afraid to ask questions on here - you'll get lots of help. Don't forget, we were all total newbs once

you will probably have to do alot of experimenting with different juices (and kits) to find what works for your tastes....im now on my 4th kit and am now just getting to find out what ratio of juice i can handle and enjoy to vape. whatever type of vape kit you buy will also make a big difference. experiment, experiment, experiment, ect....good luck and welcome to the forum!!!
