we currently have the M402 series and are happy with them. We love the auto's, its what brought us to loving the experience. What we are not happy about is the batteries are so inconsistant and dont last long (in terms of functioning - they go bad quick it seems) and we are faced with buying more batts.
I know that the autos have their issues because they can leak - why that cant be remedied is beyond me but whatever.
My question is simple - whats the difference between of the MXXX with the exposed atomizer and cart - and a cartomizer? can the cartomizer be refilled like the ones we have now?
any help in defining the differences would be appreciated.

The problem is not with the M4 batteries, it is a problem with ALL automatic batteries. The juice in your cart leaks down the atty, and into the hole in the battery and eventually shorts it out. My friend got some cast offs from me. 5 batteries total, 2 manual, 3 auto. ALL purchased the same day.

The autos lasted about a month each, but the manuals are still going strong 3 months later. I believe it is a flaw in the design of ALL automatic batteries.

But to refill a cartomizer, you need a syringe right? how often can you refill a cartomizer - for real? The M4XX is the perfect little device for me, anything bigger and it loses its "cig" appeal.
is there a "better" mini out there besides the M4XX?
I know that the autos have a leak problem, which again, is stupid - if scientists can figure out how to put a man on the moon, they should be able to make an auto that doesnt leak..

I'd recommend going the Ego or Riva route. They really aren't that big and seem bigger online than they really are, the battery life is amazing in comparison. You can also purchase a 510 battery which is compatible with all Riva and Ego equipment for those times when you want a smaller cig and they come in auto or manual. The 510 isn't much bigger than a mini, especially if you use cartomizers with it and the battery life will still be better than the m402. I'd also recommend going manual, pushing a button is 2nd nature after a few puffs and it provides so much more control without the drawbacks of an auto.

so besides the size of the batts, can anyone, I mean anyone, recommend a good mini or a half-way decent auto that isnt going to make me broke due to batt issues? OR, should I bit the bullet and buy an EGO? I just dont dig the size though.. even though, as said - size is everything in the case of vaping...
If you don't want a larger model, but want to avoid automatic battery issues, just get some manual batteries for what you already have.

Automatic batteries get messed up when juice gets in them because it gets into the mechanism that activates the battery.
Automatic batteries that are activated by suction pretty much have to have a hole in them.

Manual batteries are sealed, and don't need any hole in them because they are activated by pushing the little button.
And that is exactly what makes them so much better!
