My favorite. I didn't care for the 2002 version, though.

YouTube - Nena- 99luft Balons

This was a hard decision to make. :)

According to iTunes, I've listened to Willy Nelson's "Time of the Preacher" more than anything else in my collection. When I was a teen, I listened to (and wore out) the The Eagles and the Eagle's Hotel California. In my early twenties, I got stoned and listened to the Electric Light Orchestra's "Don't Bring Me Down" and Billy Thorpe's "Children of the Sun." Late in that decade, it was REO Speedwagon, Led Zep, Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Gimme Three Steps" (saw them in concert in Atlanta's Fox - took an English teacher - and foam earplugs), Abba, and Atlanta Rhythm Section's "Doraville." All are songs that I know by heart, but if I had to pick one - it would be the original version of Nena's 99 Luftballons.

This one always brings back fantastic memories of a night I spent thousands of miles away from home with an extremely beautiful girl who played it on her stereo.... it was a hit at the time.
