I think all the movies I love have been named but the only one that kept me awake at night was the Exorcist. And that was from reading the book. I wouldn't watch the movie until it had been out for years.

I grew up in a Pentecostal church and demon possession was preached from the pulpit. To this day, demon possession really creeps me out.

Favorites that I can remember are The Ring, The Grudge and some of the Final Destination movies. Loved those for some odd reason.

I will have to say I never had a favorite horror movie until recently.... HELLRAISER. I'm new to these movies, I could have watched them when I was younger but never did. Just recently my girlfriend told me how I needed to see them (atleast the first 4). I'm up to 3 right now and I love these movies. Only horror movies to ever give me a dream involving the movie.

Of course there are others I like... don't know if you would want to call A Clockwork Orange a horror movie but that movies one of my all time favorites.

The Night of The Living Dead (original)
The Thing (remake w/ Kurt Russell)
and I can't remember the name but maybe the Hitcher? The Hitchhiker?
and that one with the terrifying black truck following the 2 kids on the highway...
I searched youtube but fer the life of me I can't come up with the titles.
Oh and gotta toss Hellraiser in there.

Clive barker is a genius. an add to your must see list (if you haven't already) is Lord of illusions. Clive barker is the man. He has another good one too called nightbreed.

The hitcher starring rutger hauer (not the lame remake). After seeing that I always double check my french fries!

Loved Lord of illusions.

Anyone ever see Salem's Lot? Just trying to find a good horror movie on Netflix downloadable.

Get the made for TV version of Salems Lot that has Rob Lowe in the cast.
That is an amazing version and much truer to the actual book.
My lady and I love it.

Another that may interst you if you want an EXCELLENT vamp flick (IMHO) Is Near Dark.

I just watched NightBreed last week. I love his sidekick with the peeled-off face.

To be honest though, I've always enjoyed Stephen King more than Clive Barker. Clive always seems to go for demons and dark magic. It's always someone who petitioned for special powers, or evil entities vying for control.

King likes to feature baddies that don't really have a "good" or "bad" orientation... they just are. Cujo, IT, Christine... they are all presented as "stuff that happened" without some evil bringing them about... Charlie's pyrokinesis, Carrie's telekinesis, and a million of his bad guys are nothing more than normal things that inadvertantly got fouled up. Even the hotel room in "1408", he implicitly states that the room isn't haunted... it's just bad. No reason it got that way, no way to fix it. It just is.

In other words, King's stories end up being about people in bad situations with few options. You can identify with his characters because they live in a real world and aren't asked to make leaps of faith about the dark dominion that wants to envelop us all. You end up asking yourself, "What would I do?" which really allows the fear to settle into your bones.

At least that's my take on it. YMMV and all that.

You've got several pages of awesome already! :p

I can't remember if anyone's mentioned it, and I don't feel like combing through it all again, but "Let the Right One In" was a great vampire flick with a different kind of feel to it.

And of course, they've made an American version that isn't out just yet (I think):

Stephra, are you gonna make it to the PA meet? We've gotta talk some horror there! Love Stephen King, although I have never read the Dark Tower books. Heard that they were awesome, though.

I do have "Let the Right One In" in my queue, I'll have to check it out. Watched Suspect Zero last night, more of a suspense movie, but kinda boring. Like Ben Kingsley, though.

I'm talking to the boss tomorrow and then I'll know for sure. Yeah, I'd love to talk shop with ya (I work a video store, this is all "shop talk" for me).

Dark Tower is great through book four... After his accident, I think ole Stevie got a little dose of mortality paranoia and finished the series probably too hurriedly. I'm still a fan, though!

Have you watched "The Prestige" yet? I'd like to know your thoughts on it!

Well I just added those two to my netflix list. Although I love the Hellraiser movies so far, should I go any further than #4 or should I save myself the time?

anyone got any good horror movies that they know are streaming on netflix that I should check out? Send a list, I love the streaming option, makes it so much easier to add and watch.
