So does anyone plan on doing some recon on ZomBcon? Seems the first zombie themed convention is going to be held in Seattle over the Halloween weekend. So far it looks like Bruce AND George are going to be there. Any one else plan on attending?
Too far and with no job...
But, if I want to see Bruce, his dad's car lot is just a couple of miles away. My brother is a high-end auto glass technician, and he's run into Bruce there a couple of times haging out with his dad.
I really miss "Briscoe County Jr" and "Jack of all Trades"!
Those were the best of the "Action Pack" type of shows. Well Briscoe was prime time, but neither one really made sense for more that a couple minutes at a time and NO ONE seemed to mind. My favorite will always be Evil Dead and for all the wrong reasons. Hell, I hope he sneaks a cameo into The Expendables, it has everyone else from the 80's-90's in there (that counts) except him... Yeah, all these years and I still haven't met him in person.
New Zombie plan:
Kill Mac...kill him and the others will die. Maybe someone needs to go all "terminator" on him and kill him BEFORE the zombie outbreak?? Mac is the key, trust me on this. If Mac never completes his transition, then the outbreak will never happen. I know this to be true because it came to me after I passed out drinking Peach moonshine, and the moonshine visions never lie!

Something I thought was possible but just found out has been proven to work for emergency power generation.
Troubled Times: Hand Crank
Turning a cordless drill into a battery recharger/generator!!! I thought it was possible but these guys actually hooked up a hand crank to the chuck (I'd consider a 10-2x speed bike for long term usage), soldered on a one way diode to prevent drain, a hand crank and produced power. All using a cheap cordless drill. Come to think of it, you could use just about any cordless power tool like a saw which might make hooking up a chain drive easier.... just remove diode and RRRRRAAAAAAAAAWWWWW!

I'd consider a larger generator operated by zombie power... Either connected to a big hamster wheel, or one of those merry-go-round thingies like the one Conan grew up pushing. It depends on how many fresh zombies are still available when my evil armored army starts to run out of everyone else's fuel. I'm thinking the question might be moot, since "liberating" a power plant (and the people needed to operate it) will be a high priority.
Oops! Sorry, I keep forgetting this thread is about the first few days... In that case, just remember: "The guy with the pistol gets the pesos". He also gets the batteries, fuel and ammo, and he rarely operates hand-crank type devices.

I'm not sure you want to be boiling the corpses, you never know what might get released from them... You're right on the methane part but I think you want mummies for steam power. It's part of the reason why you don't see nearly as many native american burial mounds anymore. 'They' would dig them out and burn the mummified corpses in the coal box. It's where they got the expression Super Chief from, as in "Wow, he's burning pretty hot! That must have been a Super Chief". Sadly, that's not an exaggeration but the truth. How Cohokia mounds survived was mainly due to it's distance from the rail lines and the availability of plentiful hardwood/driftwood from the flooding Mississippi and Missouri rivers nearby.Pffft!! I'll just install a couple of HEPA filters, that'll take care of any stray zombie particulate. I suppose I'll wrap up the zombie remains first and dry them out inside a car like making apocalypse jerky, then'll they'll burn better. I'll put festering, rotting zombie parts in a plastic bag. Then the bags will fill with gas and I can siphon it off into ballons! 
Well the colonist in the second season of "The Colony" are a let down so far. Rendering dead pigs for bio-fuel and then only using a single alternator to recharge the batteries?!? They have a running stream nearby and no one is looking into a water wheel with some gearing?
Here's a tip for the rest of us. If you can locate a 24v, 36v, or higher electric motor, you can rig it up on a bicycle frame, use a big round piece of wood for a flywheel on the crank to smooth the output, and drive that motor to PRODUCE close to what it used to take to DRIVE that motor. Place a one way diode in line with your batteries to prevent the charge from reversing. That's a bad thing. It not only discharges the battery but drives the engine!
I still think the wood gasifier is a better power source for most emergencies but I guess dead rotting bodies could be rendered for bio-fuel after Z-Day... if we can hold them down long enough for the lipo-suction that is The only problem with that is, who want's to run around in a diesel? How many generators are diesel vs gas? Who the hell want's to play with dead bodies for fuel?!? Okay, it might help with the clean-up afterwards but it's still a risk for infection.

It worked for Kwai Chang Caine... but then again, he was a Kung Fu Master. My problem with the whole "going it alone" idea, is that there are a lot of important things that I don't know how to do. Like make beer. I really need to learn how to make good beer. I can make napalm, but I don't know how to make soap. You need lots of soap to make home-made napalm. What if there is no soap?
These are the sort of things that keep me up at night...
Fat, lye, and ash. The only hard thing to find would be the lye... Beer is a bit harder and requires more time. Start switching to whiskey or vodka now, still's are pretty simple.
Doesn't matter anyway since as a part of our deal Chris will be immune to zombie particles.
