When building with SS, how do you differ?

Hey all! First off, I was battling myself deciding if this should go to Wick and Wire, or coil builds, since it's got both aspects. That being said, I was contemplating my next build and had a random thought.

I know with 24g kanthal I would do 5 or 6 wraps on 2.3mm-2.5mm as my sort of 'standard 24g build.' I realized I didn't have a 'Standard SS Build' yet because I didnt have it very often, or much when I did... So I kind of used it sparingly. anyway ill get to my point.

What are the differences between your 'standard build' for K-A1 and SS316L? It may seem an odd question, but I happen to be an odd feller, so it works.

So your current coils come in ~0.5 ohms? It all depends on the gauge but a 26G 316L ~8 wraps would come in at 0.5 ohms. That should make them comparable in wattage mode. If you're using 316L in TC mode, the resistance really doesn't matter, although 0.5 and up is probably better for your TC chip to control than a 0.2 ohm build. Play around on Steam Engine to see what type of build you can do with the wire you have.

I used to wonder that myself, till a buddy recommended an app to me on Andriod: vape Tool. I use it now as a reference when I build coils, to put in variables to see what the outcome will be before I build.

There's also STEAM which has a coil calculator: Coil wrapping

Hope this helps.

316l has roughly half the resistance and some say it tastes better but I don't share that opinion.
I'm sure one is easier to heat than the other but I can't tell much difference.
If you're using a mech with big coils (dual 26 fused clapton with 10 3mm wraps) 316l would be ideal to keep your resistance low.

I guess I figured someone would say 'I usually just add a few wraps and go up 1/2 a mm on the ID.' I'm not really looking for any advice for a similar Vape, I just wondered what most people found themselves doing different with SS Elite vs K-A1. (Just calling it elite so I don't have to go back n forth between keyboards on my phone)

LMAO no that was supposed to be more of an example. I was in kind of a haze by the time I got to the point in the day I wrote the OP. That was my go to awhile back though

If you're using tc or wattage mode, the same gauge, id, and wrap number should give you a roughly equal vape. Resistance doesn't matter much with regulated devices. Coil mass does however.
