Good news things are pretty good and pretty cheap theses days and the playing is fun.

I recall spending hundreds of dollars for stuff that didn't work very well and lasted a short time. Now I'm using a cheap mod that works great and lasts a long time.

I'm gonna miss the new stuff coming out. I font buy it all but it's interesting. Gotta keep those synapsis's firering

For anyone who wants to play with temperature control, The istick TC 40W is on sale at www.myvaporstore.com for $25.95. It's a great deal on a pocket carry device that does temperature control. If you decide you don't care for TC, it's a good wattage mode vape, too. It's what I carry these days when I'm out of the house. USB charge, 2600mah battery, and a good stealth mode size make it a no-brainer for the price.

Somewhere out there
When I came to these forums in the fall of 2009, it took me 7-10 days of research to figure out what vaping was about and to pick a starter kit. You must have some idea of what was available back then. If I was coming here now, especially with The Deeming breathing down my neck, I think my mind would be blown.
Remember when the go to newbie set up was an 808 volt :) and the big learning game was how to fill a blank Carto! LOL Ah the good ole days :)

You could get an Eleaf Pico for about $30 and just run it in Watts mode. Removable 18650 battery, rugged, and easy to deal with if your tanks are less than 23mm. Stock up on coils for your existing tank or get into rebuilding with regular Kanthal. No need to get all fancy and high-tech.

If you already have suitable 18650s, for only three dollars more, the Eleaf Pico with stainless capability and an arguably better form factor is a great deal as well.

Well now quite the response once people woke up.

So I have been vaping the entire time never went back to smoking. I sort of stepped away from the forums because honestly it was causing me to spend too much money because I always wanted every incremental upgrade lol.

I ordered the kbox 70w I enjoy the simplicity of a built in battery right now, but seeing as how the s might hit the fan I'll probably pick up a few more without built in batteries just in case.

And I honestly cannot get over how cheap things have become as the years have gone by. I remember the first VV mod I ever saw. I can't remember what it was called but it was a large black box at a price point of like $250...

Back in the day where 5v was only obtainable via a pass through attached to a wall...

Man good ole times

Great advice in this thread. I've been at it 3 years now and early on I felt frantic thinking and trying the latest and greatest. Of course latest and greatest in 2013 pales to what is out now.

I found my sweet spot and never left. Still using the same 2 year old RTA's regularly. I will say I absolutely love the Pico. Perfect combination of features, price, form factor, and power. OTOH- I vape between 10-15 watts so 75 watts is pretty meaningless. As is temp control. But it's a great performer with a removable battery. I can go 2 full days with a 3k mah 18650 without charging.

I've been sticking to the mindset of "if it aint broke, don't fix it". Stress free vaping. Until the regs came out of course. Been frantic every since but making intelligent purchases and preparing for the worst. By the end of this month I may not need to buy anything that may be hard to get for many years.

Hmm I suppose since it seems most with removable batteries now can also charge your batteries I might look into some of those.

What I've discovered is I want something that's not a chore lol.

Who remembers this thing?

Alright... So I've been vaping for quite a while through all the innovations etc. I used to know it all, and now I feel as if I know nothing...

I decided to say screw it to all of the overly complicated stuff and got myself the Eleaf 50w when it came out and an aspire Atlantis(1.0) and have been using it since. Well it's starting to kick the bucket and time to look into something new, for the price and familiarity I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up the kbox 70w.

And that's when I got so absurdly lost. What is this temperature control thing. Why is there 15 different types of coils for these new tanks? What is going on?

When did I become an old man?

Wow! I have not seen you around in quite a long time. Good to see you back. You will pick right back up on it all in no time at all ;)

Feel your pain man. It looks like alphabet soup out there anymore. There is so much "stuff" now that I don't even know what half of it is.
The good news though .............. I DON'T CARE!!! So as for advising on what you should get, I don't have a clue. ;)
Stuff I'm using is so old that folks think it must be something new.

BTW this could be bought for vaping is 1859!

I'm still chugging along--or tootling? with my Provaris and mini Nautilus (Nautili?). My big worry is learning to build when my supply of premades runs out!

Building is really pretty easy, assuming you don't have major hand coordination issues. I think you will be able to do it!

Switching to building from a Nautilus is easy peazy. Right from the start you get better flavor and much longer life. I started with a Taifun and still think thats a good choice.

Switching to building from a higher performance style coil can be tougher. And it keeps getting tougher. Getting better flavor then my latest ceramic coils is difficult.

Another thing that favors somebody switching from a Nautilus is they are generally using a MASSIVELY HIGHLY FLAVORED juice. The store bought stuff is loaded with flavoring and back then even my DIY juice had 10-20% flavoring. Pretty easy to get good "flavor" when your basically vaping flavoring. Now that I almost alway subohm I use very little flavoring and differences show up quickly. In my lower powered gear my ADV is really just unflavored. My ADV has a tiny wisp of menthol, just wave the bottle over the mix, but in a Nautilus/Kayfun menthol is all I taste.
