I just started vaping a week ago, and I already know what you're talking about. I ordered my first 510 and had another order placed before it arrived. I gave it a few days to try out, and now I am waiting on packages from 7 more vendors to arrive. I pretty much have figured out what I want hardware wise, so I don't think I'll be dropping too much more except for cartos and atty to replace what I have. But, I can see myself dropping a lot on juice. There is so much out there that I want to try.

There's just too much stuff, and since I don't have a fully stocked brick and mortar store near by the only way to try all these cool sounding items is to buy them outright. Since I started with this site in November 2011 I have purcahsed 4 PV's, at least 15 different atty's/cartos, and juice from at least 5 different vendors. Shipping alone is starting to put a real dent in my wallet. All this and I am still in search of my perfect setup, but I'm getting closer. Got my eye on at least one other PV, nearly settled on a prefered atty, and finally understanding my taste for juice flavors. There are jsut too many variables with this lifestyle, but I hope to get it down soon. That is until the next great device comes out.
On the topic of juices, I'll read about a great juice to try, so I start reading reviews and then go to YouTube (so many reviews, my queue is clogged) and somewhere, someone will mention another juice that they'd suggest instead. Dammit! I just spent two hours researching the last juice!
Actually, DIY saves a ton of money. Supplies are much cheaper than buying juice. Frees up a lot of money for accessories.
1 1/2 months in I have spent about $300. But I just started eying an infiniti pro too. I'm happy with my ego batts, but it's so pretty!
I will force myself to hold off though, I can't see just tossing my perfectly good ego batts in a drawer so soon.
I went through a couple DSE901 kits, then came here and got a maxi roughstack which I love, I'll probably order a reo at some point in the next few months. My downfall is drip tips and JUICE!

After I found my " everyday vape" choice, I can get the samples to try then re-order larger bottles of the ones I really like. At some point I want to make a list of my favs and order just those per month. I figure it's something hubby and I do together and that makes it worth any price. Vaping has downfalls but still the positive out weigh the negative even if I spend more on this than smokes, at least hubby and I will live to spend it! Lol

After buying a Volt kit and a Silver Bullet kit, both with extra batters/chargers/carts/etc I bought a bunch of sampler packs. I've got close to a hundred little 3-5ml bottles @ few bucks each. I purchased way more than I needed of everything, as I did not want to fail because I ran out of something. I was also weening myself slowly from cigs to vaping, so the first weeks were expensive.
Every night, I load up carts with one or two new flavors for the next day (I need ritual). This is part of my strategy to keep from smoking: Instead of facing a day without cigs (negative), I look forward to trying one or two vape flavors every day (positive). Maybe I'm weird, bit that is definitely helping me.
p.s. For the record, I am finding that I do not like about two out of three juice samples, despite trying to buy only juices with descrptions that appeal to my tastes.

ive spent approx 300 the past 30 days(since i quit smoking analogs)and feel ive already spent a lot on vaping.but,its the same amount i wouldve spent on cigs.so i guess ive done pretty well.ive been holding back on buying still though,but eventually i know it will taper off
I started with the Halo G6 kit I received last Saturday, after a week of puffing on that I already ordered a provari and I quit smoking a pack and a half a day. Decided to go all in early on so all I need to buy now is more juice, juice, juice! Got about 50ml or 60ml of a bunch of different samples coming from a few different sites to have a nice variety on hand.

$500 since Jan 1. But around half of that was for the supplies and tools needed to start building my own. I plan to make 3.7v AA box kits to give/sell at cost to people I know to get them into e-cigs. I'm still working on a better and cheaper charging method because I'd hate to have to buy a $10 charger for every kit I give away/sell.

If you view vaping as more a hobby then it's not so bad. Think about how much you spent on smoking, then think about how much you, or other people, spend on sports, video games, and other hobbies. I think once you find your favorite set of clubs to vape with you should be pretty set, less whatever new flavors, cartos, and whatnot. There are a lot of PVs out there, a lot of good ones, but you'll find one that just does it for you, and when you do the new insanity of cartos, attys, LR, dual coil, XL, XXL...lol...
Well ive been off the smokes now for nearly 2 months and i couldn't be happier! Form 3 pack of bad tasting analogs to what ever tasty flavour i feel like picking up. I have spent quite a bit of cash, But i am looking at it like its my new hobbie. One that i get a lot of pleasure from and that isnt killing me. So im thinking that its all worth wild. Making my own juice was a great decision, very enjoyable and very afforadable. So all in all a great life style change. Oh and isnt the wife happy with me for not smelling like an ash tray.
And being able to breath increases stamina if you know what I mean wink wink nudge nudge
Funny, the wife just got mad at me for looking at juice at TVR... Funny, because the potential 10-30 dollars I might spend doesn't add up to the pack of cigs she seems to buy every day even after urging me to buy us both PV's... lol
But that being said, I have almost a month, and still have not completely quit smoking. I've spent around probably 150 so far, 96 being initial purchase of a double ego-t passthrough kit (atty chargers cables etc included, with about a combined 30ml of juice between samples and 10ml, most of which I didn't like). Still trying to find a juice I like but I'm stocked on cartos for quite some time thanks to CCV. Blew threw my sampler of Copper Creek juice, and the 30ml of menthol from CCV is just about 60% done after less than a week. Probably have to give credit for that to burning my resurrectors (lack of proper refilling technique I imagine) and the fact that I've smoked no more than 2-3 social analogs a day, lol.
Seriously though, I imagine once I find a juice I really like I'll stock up, figure out how not to destroy cartos in a day, and hopefully drop to about 20-30 bucks a month. Until then, I'll keep finding the best deals/vendors I can (vapor room... 15ml free first purchase, $10 30ml of whatever weekly purchase, and a sample each order? YES PLEASE!) and stick with my ego-t batt, heh.
Edit: That 2-3 analog a day is down from anywhere from 25-55 a day... I rolled my own, blew threw a pound bag in a couple days between myself and my wife. A slight victory I'd say.

I agree. I do fid it more like a hobby. Plus i am sure i am spending less than i used to on analogs. I think i am still searching for that perfect set up for me. Once i find it i am sure the spending will slow down!!

Vapers typically have addictive personalities, and vaping supply shopping is more addictive than smoking. So ill say the buying madness stops when you quit vaping and smoking altogether haha.
This is key...IMO, as long as your spending doesn't go way past the amount you'd have spent on analogs in that same period, you're still ahead of the game. Once you've gotten the hardware where you like it, your spending comes back under control, and you can concentrate on your favorite e-liquids, which shouldn't be breaking the bank (after all, you can vape only so much at one time.)
I'm trying to think how much I've spent. About $130.00 for a safecig starter kit. I saw their prices to buy extra batteries..freaked out and fortunately by then I had found this forum and realized I can buy them from other places. 5 extra batteries, about 60 cartos total. I recently purchased 50 for about $35.00..I couldn't pass that up. If there is anything better out there don't tell me now! That's all I've spent on hardware.
Pre made juice..I haven't spent that much. Thankfully I found the forum in time to not waste a lot of money. I buy what is on sale and in small amounts. I haven't tried samplers yet..I'm looking for just the right one where I like the flavor variety and can choose 6 mg nic or 0 nic.
Oh..I have spent a tad bit more on "hardware" since I started DIY. Just the very basics..a very good deal for 30 bottles..5 ml each, syringes, a dropper. Not that much. I purchased the basics..nicotine 24 mg, VG from Walmart and PG from some person on Ebay. All in all less than $300.00. I was smoking between 2 and 3 packs of analogs a day. A carton of ciggs here is about $60.00..$90.00 a week or so. That really adds up. That's one of the main reasons I switched to vaping was the cost and the health reasons too for myself and loved ones.
Oh..and another thing I realized after I started vaping. Figure out what the nic content of my current analogs are before buying pre made cartos or juice. DUH! I was vaping 24 mg and my analogs were probably closer to 8 or 10. Virginia Slims menthol 120s lights or extra lights. Oh well..live and learn. No wonder I had such a rush that first time hahaha! I've tapered back now.
Oh..I realized I didn't address the OP. Thankfully I didn't get caught up in all the gimmicks and trying new things. I'm happy with what I bought the first time. IF I change..it won't be for quite awhile. It will definitely be after I use all the cartos. That could take awhile. From here on out..so far all I can see is buying juice, DIY supplies, "maybe" a pass thru for home and the car..but I'm not totally sold on that. It's not a necessary purchase for me.
For now I'm still happy with my original juice purchases. I'm still trying them all. Eventually I'll purchase more but not right away. When I'm ready I'll probably take the plunge and try Carpellas. They seemed to have the best reviews consistently. And I'm finding out more and more taste is very subjective. You almost have to try it for yourself to see if it tastes good for sure.
