When does the buying insanity stop?

I spent about $225 in the first 2 weeks. The sequence went something like this:

1) Buy basic 510 system, 2 batteries, 100ml of juice samplers.
2) Like it enough to quit analogs
3) Let my wife try it (also a POD smoker).
4) She likes it enough that she now owns one of my 510 batteries.
5) Order spare batteries and an eGo starter for me, give her the 510 stuff. Struggle for a week on one 510 battery (doable but I violated the rule of only charging the battery when it's dead).
6) Search for the perfect menthol juice for my wife, who complains it doesn't taste exactly like her Virginia Slims Deluxe Ultra Light 100's.

So now that things are settling down, it is mainly the search for good juices and cartos. Since I quit analogs and she cut her smoking in half, I figure I'll break even in about one month.

I started with 3 TOL PVs, stick with Boge single coil 2.0 and 3.0 cartos which I buy in bulk, and DIY my juice. The only thing I have bought recently is a Z-atty for the Provari (rebuildable atty 135.00 plus shipping) and I'm on the Feb delivery schedule for that. The only things I will be buying for at least a year are a few more drip trips and some more TPA flavors, not needed but I like lots of variety to play with, and I have a 50.00 Christmas GC for those.

Buy some small sizes of TPA flavoring to doctor the premade juice you bought and didn't like. Very little goes a long way and you won't have to throw away the flavors you didn't like.

Once you find what works for you, you can get your spending to 0 for months on end. The key is simplicity.

I just went to my bank account to see how much I have actually spent since starting. $316.96 spent on vaping supplies for two people (two complete ego set ups and two complete e-power setups plus one spare battery for each, 25 carto's and 18 different juices) Actual money spent on analogs as we got things nailed down- $98.78. Analogs not purchased $254.34. So I can see that I have spent more, I knew I would in the beginning (I have almost gone berserk on buying the newest and latest but I reeled myself in!) I hope to see a savings in February, hopefully will just add some juice or maybe do a little diy.

Anything to get you off cigs is worth it.

I think people make a huge mistake when they start buying a ton of juice.

Find one you can tolerate. You don't have to fall in love. After your taste buds change try one or two a month.

Otherwise you're going to go through tons of juice, tons of cartos trying the juice. It adds up. I could have bought a good mod for all the money I wasted on juice. And the worst part is, I'm still vaping the very first juice I started with.

Some great comments in this thread. I might add that hanging out on this forum sure doesn't help as we are constantly bombarded with new equipment and juice reviews that create that "grass is always greener on the other side of the hill" mentality in us. But if we look at the hardware for what it truly is - a nicotine delivery system that also satisfies the hand-to-mouth urge, then the majority of us already have what we need. The rest of it is just good old fashioned American consumerism, buying more than we need because that's what Americans do.

Gotta go now, I need another mod because right now I have an odd number of them and I like even numbers.

That is definitely true! But I also think you have a bigger chance of success if you post and read the board. I think the support and reading all the posts reinforces everything. The few people I know that tried vaping but never really stuck never posted on a board. It's easy to lose interest otherwise.

Well, I started vaping about a month ago, don't know how much it has cost me, and I don't care. I usually would buy a carton of cigarette each week for me and my wife, which would cost $240 for the month. In the past four weeks, I have only bought two cartons, spent about $60 on juice, cartos, attys, drip tips, and other knick knacks for my PV and pocketed the other $60. So, I am actually ahead on the deal. The wife is getting her own Ego kit this week, hopefully she will love hers as much as I love mine, and I can quit buying cigarettes altogether. I do feel the same way, like it will never end. It does get overwhelming sometimes though, because I want to try everything I read on here, and don't know where I will find the time or money.

I totally agree or I wouldn't be on the board now! I'm just saying that, in my mind, coming here is like going to the grocery store for some much needed staples. Yah, I got my whole grain bread and skim milk but how the heck did that big box of Whoppers get in my cart? And so it is here, we get our much needed hardware/juice advice and moral support, but it's hard not to spend more than we intended due to the all the other "goodies" we are exposed to while here.

I'm pretty much at the point where the spending is slowing down. I've got PV's that are working for me. I've got 3 or 4 months worth of juice I love & same with carto's. I've got backups for my backups. I've got a few months worth of vapeable (but, not my favorite) juices & useable cartos, tanks & atomizers. I even have a spare battery for my 2 Epowers. I could not buy anything for at least 3 or 4 months, easily & not even slow down on vaping. I'm sure I will, though, I don't wanna EVER go back to stinkies. It gives me peace of mind to have more than I need of vaping supplies. That feeling to my mind is priceless.

Happy vaping to all.
