The longer answer:
All non-
mod e-cigs are manufactured by about a dozen companies in China, mainly in Shenzhen (Hong Kong). I believe the parts manufacture, assembly, and boxing is all done there as well (sometimes to the specifications of the western supplier, e.g., Totally Wicked, Janty, Vapor4Life, etc.).
The Five Families (as I call them) are: Sailebao (DSE...), Joye (Joye...), Kanger (KR...), First Union (RN....), and Smoore (M...). Also rans include: BestEcig (BE...), Boge (clones), Cixi* (E... and U...), GreenTech (G...), Jieshibao (L88 and J...), Loong Totem (V...), etc.
* One could make a case that Cixi belongs with the Five Families. Its E9 model is the heavily marketed Smoke51 and Green Smoke. I don't choose to do so.
Jim Davis of ECF and e-smokers-forum has put together a fairly comprehensive table of models, which I believe was the foundation for this
e-cigarette wiki table. It shows the model number, category, size, battery mAh, brief description, brand names, and manufacturer. It's sorted (kind of) by category. The manufacturer is indicated by a two- or
three-letter code, the key for which is at the bottom of the page.
BestEcig is not included in the table.
