I've been doing vaping for about five weeks, and so far I have only used cigalikes and spinners. I've tried dozens of different flavor juices with and various different cartos and clearos. I haven't tried a tank system yet, because the only advantage I can see, is that you can go longer in between refills. I like refilling though. I rotate several different clearos throughout the day because I still haven't found "the one".

I'm just not happy with this set up.. Cartos seem way dry tasting to me, and really inconsistent, but clearos tend to get all clogged on me, (juices are all at least 50% pg if not more) and if I forget to do the swirly whirly thing I get a nice hit of burnt wick. Yuck! So what are my options after this? I think I've maxed out the ego/clearo experience with my current device.

I know there is a lot more to be explored, and I'm really trying hard to navigate through the vast amount of info available here, but I get discouraged by this whole "advanced vaporer" thing. I'm not knocking anyone for being a master of their craft, but for a person in my position, its frustrating... because I know I can't hang with the "advanced" talk, but I want to move past the beginner stuff as well. So I don't know who to talk to, or what to do.

Hey Sharon! I couldn't get the hang of cartos alone but if primed correctly they are great! Have you though about cartotanks? Also what about the kanger protank. The wicks are at the bottom so that might help the twirling issue. It is a little tough & takes some trial & error. I hope you find your delivery method soon!

Forgot to add...I don't have an all day vape either. I have several flavors that I like & a few tht I love. I probably switch between 3-4 all day & take about 3 with me to work.

Do you have a brick and mortar store near you? Not necessarily that the staff are going to be helpful, but it might help you to meet another vaper in the wild.

I've had to do the trial and error thing, and I have only this week ventured into a very tiny amount of variable voltage. My whole experience thus far has been on a regulated voltage ego or leo battery. I've tried a bunch of stuff, I don't like top coil clearomizers and I don't like cartomizers, in or out of tanks. So far I am liking the bottom coil clearomizers, Kanger T3 and Evod. They are not faultless, either, but I can deal with it until I discover something better.

By the way, I still haven't found "the one" all day vape juice. I had to stop searching for the Holy Grail of juice and just settle for some that don't taste nasty, are not horribly expensive, and are relatively easy to get my hands on. I don't want only one flavor, I like to mix it up.

I have to read, read, read, search and watch reviews, read some more, and finally just try it out myself. I try not to spend a whole lot of money on something until I try it, so I don't have a whole lot of gear lying around that I have no use for. I think the next big thing for me is going to be a Vamo, I really need to try variable voltage higher than 4.0 which is what my little dragon mod can do. I think I will stick with this delivery device until something better comes along, because it is better than anything else I've tried.

Please don't feel left out, every person on this site was new once. Ask questions, jump into discussions and get the answers you are looking for. Good luck!

If you like your spinner's I recommend you try Kangers EVOD bottom coil clearomisers they produce a cooler vape but you dont have to worry about swirling it as the wicks are on the bottom and they fit perfect on ego style batteries.

I wouldnt let the advance vapor talk on the forum bother you there are plenty of veterans on here that are more then happy to help explain everything to you. good luck and happy vaping

another vote here to try a kanger EVOD on your ego

Dont care about filling? Try a CE3 (Phoenix reborn clearo) Works great on cig-a-likes, or anything really. To (Re)fill a syringe is needed.

My white one has a CE3

basically bottom coil clearo should be your next step

I second the recommendation of a plain carto tank. I would get a glass one if possible and a 3 hole punched carto. No dry hits or need to worry about the coil staying moist. They usually last 7 - 10 days before needing replaced.

I would also upgrade to the variable wattage Vamo. It is easily the best "bang for the buck" PV on the market at just $39. VW is basically "set & forget" which I think you would appreciate.

SharonMM,

I was like you when I got started: cartos seemed nasty and I too like a variety of flaves... My current set up is with a few Kanger Protanks... I'm on this bandwagon with many others. I have been known to carry around 4 of these with different flavors so I can mix and match. I have also combined flavors to make little cocktails, and the flavor that was the one for me was Afternoon Delight (from Mt. Baker Vapor) cut with some peach.

I have found it's easier to just have a bunch of heads on hand for the protank so I can change flavors fairly easily: soak previous heads while switching out to clean ones.

My bottom line is that I have had far less issues with the protank than any other item I've tried.

What flavors have you been trying? Maybe you need to try some different flavor profiles.

I like to vape a fairly large number of different flavors every day. I don't mind filling either. So I'm a dripper. A good dripping atty, a drip tip and a few bottles and I'm set for the day.

For dripping atty's I like the HH.357 from Avid Vaper with a standard 510/901 drip tip. I also like the I06 from Ikenvape with an I06 drip tip, but it's even better in an I06 DCA from Good Sense. (Can be difficult to catch I06 DCA's in stock though...)

Just in case you were looking for something different than the other good suggestions before mine. (And the real reason I drip is that the flavor is better, need the flavor, but the other reasons I gave at the beginning are valid too.)

I definitely recommend the kanger t3/mt3 's. Like yourself ive tried many different delivery devices and i always find myself coming back to these. Theyre easy to clean, in expensive, and provide a great flavor. I know you dont like the top coil style clearos but I have also had nothing but pleasurable experiences with the itaste30.

Thanks for the suggestions all! I actually have tried most everything that has been mentioned, with the exception of the protank.

I guess I'm not really seeing how a tank could significantly improve my vaping experience? It still uses a carto, which I havent been too keen on.

I haven't tried plain old attys either. I will probably pick some up on my next haul. Is there any tips or pointers for me starting in dripping?

I think I want to start getting away from these ego style batteries. I see term like mods, mech mods, and RBAs being tossed around quite frequently. Could some explain to me what these are and how they differ? I would love to see a straight forward, facts only topic like that posted as a sticky. I can't help but feel like a lot of eyes are being rolled when they read questions such as these... I'm sure all of this has been covered before. But it is reallly difficult to sort out the pertinent pieces of info from threads that contain so many opinions.

The Spinners are fine, do the job. If you're happy with them, no particular reason to "upgrade."

The recommendations for the T3, Evod, and Protank I agree with. It's a different vape, and no twirling at all. Get a couple extra coils when you order one up. (And maybe new coils for the ones you already have?)

Can you adjust the PG/VG ratio? Less VG might give less clogging. And the darker juices seem to gunk coils quicker. But with most clearos, it's simple to pop a new coil in, and the clearo is just like new. You don't have to rebuild them yourself, they're cheap.

I have about 4 or 5 "favorite" flavors, and usually about 8 or 10 others going, all in different devices. For me, one of the pleasures of vaping is that I CAN have different flavors. Is having 6 flavors of ice cream in the freezer a bad thing? :p

Ah, late to the party!

The Protank is a bottom coil clearo, not a carto tank. But you may like it, and you may like a carto tank. I can't really explain it, but to me it tastes... richer?... than a straight carto. And the assurance that you'll not run the carto dry, and can vape a long time, is a bonus.

If you haven't tried any of the Kanger BCCs, you might want to start with a T3 or Evod, as they're quite a bit less than the Pro, and would vape pretty much the same. The pyrex tube of the Pro is, for me, it's biggest advantage.

You might consider a box mod. I have an MVP, and really like it. Solid little powerhouse.

In my understanding, mod is really a generic term for anything not a stick or ego type battery. Most are tubes that take standard batteries, some are boxes. A "mechanical" has nothing but a fire button. It runs at whatever the battery voltage is.

Other mods - Provari, Vamo, MVP and so on, add electronics to change the voltage. Maybe just to keep it steady across the charge of the battery, maybe to allow the user to adjust voltage (like the Spinner) or directly set the wattage. Or the Evic, which does everything except the dishes.

The vendors I mentioned have break in instructions. Just follow the instructions and by the time you have it broken in you'll have the hang of it.

...I see term like mods, mech mods, and RBAs being tossed around quite frequently. Could some explain to me what these are and how they differ?

In common usage "mod" is a vaping device that uses off-the-shelf batteries. Usually Li-Ion, either protected or safe chemistry, use the battery recommended by the manufacturer to be safer. A mechanical mod, or mech mod does not have control or protection circuitry because it has a mechanical activation to cause the current to flow. A non-mechanical mod, or usually just mod or APV has a circuit board that provides protection and control circuitry. Control circuitry may include variable voltage and/or variable wattage, which is basically a way to control the amount of heat/power/warmth of your vapor. (APV is from ECF and stands foor advanced PV)

RBA is suppose to mean Rebuildable Atomizer. (Seems it should be RA, but RBA is the most common.) These are either tank or dripping types and some folks use genesis or gen or genny to mean a bottom tank rebuildable. Basically with some resistance wire and some wick material, you can build as many atomizers as you'd like in it.

Both are long term value items. A high quality mod will last a long time and if you need batteries, they are much less than an eGo style battery. And RBA's component cost is much less than buying a whole new atty each time. The initial cost for the units is much greater, so it takes time to recover those costs and really start saving. They do make the matter of adjusting things to give a perfect individual vape to another level and put everything in your hands.

I use a ProVari with IMR 18650 batteries and use a Pila charger for the batteries. That is my mod of choice.
I use a Chris Creations Fatty v1 rebuildable dripping atty. I'm still experimenting with various gauges of kanthal (resistance wire) and wick sizes and material types.

If you'd like to see different rebuildables and mods, I suggest you do a YouTube search for The Vaping Evolution with AlmightyGod.
