Where are they sourcing it? tobacco plants? Where?
Wouldn't it be interesting if China ended up buying something from us for once? I don't know if they can grow it, there, but what if the e-cig got so big (and it will) that the chinese manufacturers could support the American tobacco growers??

We'd have one huge HELL of a fight on our hands with our life stealing horrible government, but, sure would be interesting!!

Does tobacco grow in China? Are they growing it, there??

In spite of the war the U.S. seems to be waging against tobacco, tobacco growing has long been a government subsidized crop in the U.S. In order to grow tobacco in the U.S. you have to have a tobacco allotment. This limitation keeps the prices higher for the farmers. Because of this tobacco in the U.S. tends to cost over $3.50 a pound where the gong price overseas is about $1.25.

Seems odd that we would subsidize the growing of a crop we are trying to do away with doesn't it.

If the powers that be here in the states actually want to get rid of tobacco and tobacco derived products, I AM chinese.

I guess it was a stupid question of me to ask because when you think about it there are SO MANY SMOKERS in china that we'd have to cover half of the US with tobacco farms in order to supply them.

So of course they do.
Sigh.

Silly of me.

Tobacco, being a fairly hearty plant, would do quite well in China's rather polluted environment. I guess I can see why they buy local, as well as extracting the nicotine in their factories. ^_^

That's good for us in one way.. we're completely going around the government tax horror machine. The bad news is, when they're not raping us in the back door, they are NOT happy. So they definitely will go after our vaping. Makes me very displeased to think about, for sure.

But I think that this is bigger than them.
The fuse is lit.

I don't think that they can stop vaping.
They can rape us of just about any right, tax/steal/plunder, endanger our children, commit mass horror saying it's "for the children".... but when it comes to them ****ing with our vaping I just don't think we'll lay down for it. :D

If they're doing it for the children....then I have the solution to our worries.

Let me kill the children! :D

Also...if it is really for the children I guess I'm chinese too..

Edit: Zoid, I've heard the same of some suppliers although the memory of which ones currently escapes me. I think the reasoning that most juices come from the harming of foliage is that it is MUCH more cost effective to harvest it than it is to produce it in a lab.

The largest tobacco company in the world by volume is China National Tobacco Co..

Wouldn't it be interesting if China ended up buying something from us for once?

They buy a lot of our debt and have been for ages.

I don't know if they can grow it, there, but what if the e-cig got so big (and it will) that the chinese manufacturers could support the American tobacco growers??

Tobacco can be grown anywhere except Antarctica and again, China has the largest producer.

We'd have one huge HELL of a fight on our hands with our life stealing horrible government, but, sure would be interesting!!

We've got on helluva fight on our hands regardless of the tobacco situation ;-)

Does tobacco grow in China? Are they growing it, there??

More than any place on earth, then India, Brazil, US. India and Brazil switch places depending on the year/crop.

The WAR against Tobacco is the WAR for higher taxes on a minority of the population, which is EXACTLY what our revolution was fought about. The fact of representation in congress does not help, as our representative government ONLY supports the corporations that pay the highest BRIBES (lobbying campaign contributions)

The fact is, that e-cigs are a threat, BECAUSE it keeps people away from buying highly taxed products. Tobacco is KING in America. Do not let a couple of groups pandering to our sensibilities about childrens welfare trick you into thinking otherwise.

I come from Alabama, where my family had grown Tobacco, and peanuts for hundreds of years, Actually up until our WONDERFUL government agencies demonized both tobacco, and peanuts as unhealthy. My family was unwilling to take subsidies from the government in order to destroy our crops, so we sold the 1300 acres of land that had been in out family since 1795, packed up, and moved to Florida.

You know, I don't think it does, zoid. Simply put, it is cheaper to harvest, as Israfil has said. I too thought, at first, that USP grade was manufactured.

Source : http://www.nicobrand.com/files/Nicotine_Free_Base_Data_Sheet.pdf a big player in the freebase market in the UK.

nah, making "synthetic nicotine" is way way more expensive than just extracting it from tobacco leaves

It very well could be. Like I said, I read it somewhere. But the more I think about, it would seem to be cheaper to just smash up a couple thousand tons of tobacco and extract the nicotine.

The a problem with getting info on e-Cigs is there is not a clear source of believable info. You have to go on bits and pieces you pick up for this news clip or that health report. None of which you can realy tell is true or not.

Funny how these days if someone doesn't like the horrible taxes someone will say "at least it's not as bad as europe"

We went from being the most free and least taxed to being "less taxed than one other place on earth"

While there are always corporations in the top lobbying group listings, the top 25 include the AARP, NEA, NRA, (those three will vie for number one depending on the year), Chamber of Commerce, AFSCUME (public employees union), AMA, Trial Lawyers, UAW, Teamsters, Israel lobby....

On 'industry groupings' you'll get well, industry: corporations, bankers, oil, tobacco, beer, etc.
